| @Boadicea <3 // little soft surprise while I suffer It was a late morning. Baal was waken up by a few tiny feet in his face, pressing hard against his cheek. He made a short yawn as he grabbed the foot of their little son, barely 2 years old, to caress it gently on the side with his thumb. He turned his head to watch his wife sleep so soundly with their eldest daughter of 4 - A smile spread on his lips as he pushed himself up on his elbow, beholding the sight for a little longer. He crawled out of bed as quietly as he could, sneaking out of the bedroom to walk down to the kitchen, hoping that these old floors wasnt going to squeak and wake up everyone. He prepared the coffee machine, before he turned it on, knowing how she liked it to be. He made a small debate in his mind on whether he should go buy some bread, watching the pretty outside from the window. It was sunny and the grass had this foggy wet cover over itself that told him somehow it was going to be a good day. He decided to go buy the fresh bread, knowing he didnt have to go far to get to the bakery. He was just hoping that Buffy would keep sleeping in, grabbing some freshly washed clothes that they hadnt had the time to fold. When he stepped in the shop, the old lady behind the disk smiled at him as she knew what he was going to buy - He had done this so often. “Hard life as a parent?” She asked in a small chuckle. Baal smiled as he shrugged, “They may not want to sleep when they’re supposed to, but it’s worth it,” he said, which the old lady seemed to agree to. He paid for the bag of bread, narrowing his eyes a little before he bought a couple of cakes as well. He went back to their little house, placing the bread on the round dinnertable in the kitchen. He didnt mind the small cozy house that they had gotten, it was bigger than the apartment and had to extra rooms for their children. He went up to the bedroom, crawling into bed as he pulled their son into his arms and leaned over to kiss Buffy gently but slowly over her face to wake her up. |

| It was like as if everything fit together perfectly. At first Buffy had been scared when Nessa was born, the most beautiful little girl. The pregnancy had been rough, but every time she looked at that young girl she knew it had all been worth it. Two years later their son Noah had come along. He was a wild child, and often got in to trouble. However Buffy didn’t mind it. She loved having two children so very different. On mornings like these Buffy was lucky to get a few minutes extra of sleep, holding Nessa in her arms. Of course the young girl had her own room, but she seemed to suffer from nightmares, so the girl often ended up in their bed. Noah on the other hand would throw temper tantrums if he was denied to sleep between his two parents. Maybe it was because of his age that he just sought to be close and needy. She felt the toddler getting removed from her, frowning half awake before she felt the warm lips on her face. A tired smile came upon her lips, sighing as she carefully opened her eyes. “Good morning,” she mumbled with a hoarse voice, feeling her arm a little numb from Nessa sleeping so heavily on it. How was all of this possible? It was as if everything had fallen in to place. Their oldest in her arms seemed to slowly waking up, her mouth pouty as she didn’t seem ready to get up. Buffy chuckled a bit, kissing Nessa on her dark hair, looking at the sleeping toddler in Baal’s arms, golden locks just like herself. “Have you been awake for long?” She asked her husband, a smile appearing more brighter. |

| Noah had groaned when he was removed from Buffy, but when he felt his fathers arms around him, he seemed to calm down to give them their peace for just a little while longer. Baal couldnt always seem to grasp the temper of their son, but he always seemed to be able to calm him down from them - Well not as good and instantly as Buffy, but he tried. He smiled at his wife as she woke up, thinking he was so lucky to have a beauty like her as his wife. “Goodmorning my light,” he said in a warm tone, lifting a hand to touch her cheek gently. He looked to Nessa as she woke up, lifting his hand from Buffy’s cheek to curl his finger and brush it gently down from Nessa’s forehead to the tip of her nose. He smiled a little at Buffy’s words, looking down at Noah while he made a notion of a shrug, “Not that long. I’ve picked up some bread from Janet’s,” he said in a low tone as he looked back up at Buffy. Noah started to fuzz as he scrambled around in Baal’s arms, gritting his small teeth a little as he couldnt seem to figure out whether he was ready to wake up. “Schleeeeeeeeep,” he moaned in full disatisfaction, making Baal chuckle and shake his head. “We cant just sleep all day, little lion,” he told his son, before he looked up at Buffy with begging eyes. The toddler wouldnt always listen to him when he was in a tired mood, but his mother he would without a doubt - Baal didnt mind that, as he loved watching Buffy with their children. |

| Buffy chuckled a bit at their son's word. She had to agree with her husband in some way, that they couldn't sleep in, however she also really wanted to. Nessa sat up, rubbing her eyes with loose wrists, her mouth opening in a tired yawn. "Your daddy is right, we can't snooze all day," Buffy said in a light chuckle, pulling the toddler into her arms, blowing against his cheek to make farting noises. "Besides, then you wouldn't get to play with all your toys," Buffy mentioned with a raised eyebrow, clearly just wanting to get a reaction out of the toddler in her arms. She reached over, placing a hand on Baal's cheek, pulling him in to her lips and placing a soft morning kiss against his lips. Nessa crawled over to be in between her parents, pulling a face at Noah before she giggled lightly. Nessa was a rather thoughtful little girl, but she never shut up when she finally got to talking. "Daddy, I had a dream about Snow White and Aurora meeting," Nessa said, pulling at her father's shirt with an excited expression on her face. Buffy chuckled, moving out of the bed, grabbing Noah up in her arms, kissing his nose before she looked at her husband and their oldest in bed. "While you two set the table, I'm going to get our little lion dressed," Buffy said in a calming tone. Nessa chuckled a bit, moving out of bed to nod at her mother's request, sprinting out in to the kitchen. She grabbed a stool, pulling it with her over to the kitchen counter where she climbed the furniture to reach plates. "Better move fast before I lose another plate," Buffy said with a raised eyebrow before a loud crash was heard from the kitchen. "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!" Nessa yelled from the kitchen, a couple of glasses had landed on the floor, and she stood barefoot on the chair, feeling a little scared and sheepishly looking down at the sharp glass on the floor. |

| Noah made a pouty face at Buffy's words, following her into her arms as he then quickly seemed to change mood as her raspberry blowing on his skin made him laugh in a heartily manner. Baal watched them with a soft smile as he just sighed at the sight. The little boy seemed to contemplate on the complex that his mother was placing him in - Sure sleeping was nice, but it was way more fun to play with toys. He was too busy thinking to put himself between Buffy and Baal which he usually would when he felt jealous. Baal returned the kiss with a softness to his lips as his lips parted from hers shortly after with a satisfied smile over them. He looked at Nessa as she crawled between them, Noah looked at her with squinted eyes as he then gasped when she pulled a face. He giggled a little as he turned to bury his face against Buffy's chest right between her collarbones. Baal looked at Nessa with curious eyes as she told him about her dream, hugging her close as she pulled at him, moving some of her black hair behind her ear, "Sounds like an interesting dream. Did they discuss their methods of sleeping?" he asked with a crooked smile as he ran his hand carefully through her hair. Noah clutched onto Buffy as she got up, looking at Baal and Nessa as he seemed to freeze at the mention of clothes, frowning as he shook his head, "Doesnt need," he mumbled as he hid his face in the nape of her neck. Baal chuckled as Nessa got up from bed in an instant, sighing as he nodded at Buffy's words, "You should have thought of that before handing her such a task," he said with a soft smile just as he heard the crash. When Nessa called, he went down to look at the splinters that had gone everywhere. "You're too eager, my little love," he said as he got on a pair crocs so he wouldnt end up cutting his feet when he would be removing the splinters. He walked out to her, keeping away from the big pieces as he lifted her to place her on the kitchen counter so she wouldnt risk falling off the chair. He got a bag to place the biggest pieces in, crouching down as he collected what he could. "But it's fine. A couple of glasses are better than having you fall on your head," he said with a soft smile as he looked up at her. He didnt really want to scold her for something trivial as a few glasses breaking. "Which is the only thing I worry about when you just hop onto chairs so recklessly," he said a little more serious, though his voice was still calm, picking up the last few pieces that he could before he had to go get the hoover to get the rest. When he was done, he took off the crocs in the entrance before coming back to pick Nessa up from the kitchen counter. "Promise me you'll be more mindful next time," he said as he kissed her temple, knowing she probably would forget due to how eager she would get. He placed her at the table as he started placing plates and what else was needed for Nessa to spread around, that way they'd avoid another incident. |

| Nessa's mouth popped open as her father guessed right, making Buffy chuckle a bit as she stood up with the toddler in her arms. Sighing, but still smiling, she found it endearing how great Noah had become at expressing himself. Sure, he was a little rascal, but he could speak almost full sentences at this point. "You do need clothes, it's cold outside, and what if we went out for a walk - would you like everyone to know about your paw patrol undies?" she chuckled, kissing her son's golden locks before walking off with him to his room. Of course she heard the glass breaking, but she just rolled her eyes. Nessa was always so keen to helping. "How about a sweater and some jeans? I think you would look proper in those," she said with a gentle smile on her lips as she started finding the clothes for her son. She would of course have to go back and change her own clothes, but their son was always making a fuzz about getting dressed, that she just wanted it over with. Not to mention when he needed a shower, it was like watching a true tornado inside their house.
Nessa looked at her father with a pouty face, sitting on the counter as she watched him cleaning up. "I'm sorry daddy," she said looking down at her feet that were dangling. She was sorry, and it showed, so it came as a relief to the child that she was not getting a scolding. As her father helped her down, she smiled, giving him a hug instead of saying anything else. Then she started helping her father, placing butterknives carefully next to each plate. Scooting some of the glasses around until they stood as she liked it. "I'll go get dressed," she said as she felt satisfied, smiling at her father before running off. Nessa was not the kid that went from crawling to walking, she had skipped walking and went straight to running. It had surprised Buffy quite a bit, but the girl always seemed to be busy and running off to do something.
Buffy came in to the kitchen, looking at her husband before she placed Noah in his chair. "Noah, I have a very important job for you," she said, squatting down so she was at eye height with the toddler. "I want you to behave very nicely while mummy and daddy get's dressed - if you do that, we'll go in to town and see the christmas lights they've put up," she said in a motherly tone, smiling at Baal before she got to her feet. She kissed his cheek before moving to their bedroom and finding an outfit for the day. |

| "Noooooooooooooooooo!" Noah exclaimed with a frown as he shook his head with such power to each shake, just to clarify how little he wanted to wear clothes. When she spoke of his underwear, he looked down to look up at her, his expression sour. He didnt really mind if people saw, he liked his paw patrol, and he wasnt ashamed of them. "Let 'm see!" he said, narrowing his eyes a her as he picked up a teddy that laid on top of the drawers, signaling that he wanted to be put down while she would look for his clothes. He didnt move far away, just sitting down on his blanket that had been spread out on the floor from yesterday when they had all laid there for a little story-telling. He looked at his teddy, touching the fluffy ears as he looked up at Buffy at her suggestion. He liked when she called him proper, thinking it made him look like a big boy, if he was looking proper that was. He nodded, getting up as he let the teddy fall to the floor, lifting his arms as high as he could to let her pull the sweater over his head.
Baal smiled a little at Nessa's apology, knowing that she meant it, "It's only a few glasses. It's nothing we cant replace," he said in a calm tone. He had learned from his mistakes with Eaden, which unfortunately was something he had only learned when it was too late. He hadnt really heard from his eldest son ever since the confrontation Dinah had had with him when she learned the truth. He shook the thoughts out of his mind as he looked at Nessa prepare the table, smiling softly as he touched the back of her head gently, "Yeah, off you go," he said as he could watch her run off before he even got to finish his sentence. He chuckled, shaking his head.
Noah looked at the table as he was placed in his chair, wanting to reach out and do a little of his own arranging, though he wouldnt ever do it as good as Nessa had - But that didnt really matter to the little boy. He looked up at his mother as she squatted down to him, staring into her green eyes with his own that had a perfect mixture of grey and green. He smiled bright at the mention of christmas lights and nodded eagerly. "E'ave" he tried to repeat but his mouth couldnt wrap around the motion of pronouncing certain letters, b being the one he had the hardest time getting around to. He lifted his hands up, smiling brightly as he looked at his mother. Baal followed Buffy, sighing in content as they got into the bedroom. He touched her back gently as he smiled at her, "He's the fiercest of them all," he chuckled before he went to his drawer to see what he might want to wear today. He just grabbed something rather simple, a long sleeved black shirt with some dark grey pants to not be all black. He turned his eyes to look at his wife, smiling a little to himself. "I'm definitely the luckiest man alive," he said as he ran his hands through his hair to fluff up the curls a little. |

| "He's a little lion for a reason," Buffy chuckled lightly, closing her eyes slightly as he touched her back. His touch could calm her down so easily. She decided on a dress, making sure to grab some thick pantyhose to go underneath. Chuckling lightly at his words, she pulled her hair out of the back of the dress, placing it in a ponytail to keep it out of her face. She had only started doing that since she had become a mother, it was just easier to handle babies without fear of them yanking out a lump of hair. "Luckiest? Are you calling me a trophy wife now?" she chuckled, walking over to him, looking up at his lovely grey green eyes. She still felt like that young human falling in love with him all over again every time she looked at him like this. Her hands reached up, fixing one of his loose curls before placing a kiss against his lips. He could still make her body sing with such a gentle gesture, but she wouldn't have it any other way. "Now, I think we might need to go out before our son ruins the nicely set table," she giggled, running her palm over his cheek in a gentle caress. "He can't e'ave forever," she said, mimicking his way of speaking. She found him so endearing and wondered how she could've made such a cute kid. Not to mention Nessa; she would grow up and having all the boys swoon over her beauty alone. Buffy gave Baal a last look, raising an eyebrow at him before moving back out in to the kitchen. Nessa came running past her, stopping to fix her dark hair, her curls swirling around his face like a wild mane. Buffy chuckled, reaching down and moving some of the dark hair back behind her ear. "Sit down, I'll make some eggs and bacon," Buffy said in a gentle tone, opening the fridge and taking out what they had left inside. They would have to make a stop at the supermarket on their way back. As she mixed the eggs up, she poured herself a cup of coffee, smiling to herself as she added a bit of sugar and milk to it. Maybe it was because she was so used to have her tea with milk and sugar that she needed it in her coffee as well. Nessa helped her brother, always wanting to act like a big girl to impress her parents. "Are we really going to see the lights?" Nessa asked her father, popping her head to the side before she grabbed a slice of bread, eating the crust as she looked on in wonder. Nessa loved Christmas. Well the girl loved any holidays, even the ones she made up herself for when she had made a drawing and wanted an excuse to gift it to her parents. |

| “You’re right,” he agreed with her as he smiled a little. Sure Noah was wild and at times rather fuzzy if he wasnt close to Buffy, but he was a good kid. He had never seen him take his anger out on anyone, at least not physically - A little bit of yelling and a stream of words he barely knew wasnt really something to be that worried about. He shook his head at her chuckle, looking at her as she stepped closer. He placed a hand gently on the side of her throat to feel her steady pulse, just watching her with these endeared eyes. She could really look good in anything, he thought to himself as she fixed his hair and soon he felt her soft lips. He wanted to lean back in and just steal another kiss, but when she spoke of Noah, she was right. The toddler had probably already managed to cause just a little havoc, if they werent careful. But he couldnt really help himself as he grabbed her arm at her last look with her eyebrow having been raised, just to pull her closer for a moment, wrapping his arm around her, “If you keep looking at me like that, we’d might end up adding another member to the litter,” he warned her with a low teasing yet awfully seductive tone as his lips curled to a devilish smile. He let her go just as Nessa came running, watching her dark curls with a sigh, “I’m sorry to have cursed you with evil curls,” he said as he chuckled a little. Of course he hadnt cursed her, but he knew how tangled up the curls could get at times - Even less would he forget the pain when he’d ask Buffy to untangle them for him.
Noah had grabbed a toy that he played with, an actionman that was patrolling along the edges of his toddler-chair. He made stomping noises as he couldnt imagine the man walk any other way, looking up at his mother as she walked in. He raised the doll and pointed it’s hands at her for a bit, before he quickly returned to his own little world. Baal had grabbed the bread from the bakery, cutting it into nice halves - Though he didnt eat, he still wanted to help. He had to eat anyway, Noah would always watch him and not eat if he saw that his father wasnt. Whatever it was supposed to mean for the toddler, it wasnt something Baal wanted for him. He had taught himself over the time with Nessa as a toddler to just endure certain types of food, bread being one of them. He turned his head at Nessa’s question, smiling as he shortly glanced at Buffy, “Of course, my little love. We cant miss a year now when we’ve gotten such a good streak going. It might be that we can go see how your sister Dinah is doing with that werewolf guy of hers. They’d want to see the lights too I’d imagine,” he said, but Noah just tilted his head in confusion as he didnt know what Baal was saying. “Eeee ighhhts?” He repeated, frowning a little as he had his concentration face on. “Yeah, the lights,” Baal agreed with him to let him know he understood. Noah’s expression softened up to a bright smile and laugh as he clapped his hands. “Ights ights!” He said, his motions making his doll fall to the floor. He reached down for it, getting a little fuzzy as he couldnt reach it. |

| Buffy felt him pull her closer, his arms locking around her in a safe embrace. His words made her giggle, looking at him with a gentle gaze. “If you keep speaking like that, I think I might like the idea of another pair of footsteps,” she whispered. Her eyes softening up as she looked at him. Buffy liked their little family, but she wanted more children when the time was right. As Nessa ran by, she moved out of the embrace, tending to her oldest. “It’s a blessing,” Buffy said in a gentle voice Before letting Nessa run to the kitchen. She looked at Baal, wondering how she got so lucky. In the kitchen Noah was seemingly playing out his fantasy world, and it was wonderful to see him actually behave. Buffy was listening to Baal and Nessa’s conversation, smiling to herself as she placed the eggs in the pan. Then she heard the toy fall to the ground, hearing Noah fuzz about before she walked to him. “Did he forget his parachute?” Buffy asked in a surprised voice, looking down to the action man on the floor. She squatted down, grabbing the doll before making a rocket sound, moving the doll up to Noah once more, placing him on the edge. “Good thing he remembered his rocket boots,” she said, leaning over to kiss Noah’s forehead. He still smelled like baby to her, or maybe it was just her hormones going a little crazy. She made sure the toddler had a good hold over his action figure before walking back to the eggs and bacon. Nessa loved bacon for some reason, and on days like these Buffy couldn’t see the reason as to not have it.
Nessa’s smile brightened at the mention of her big sister. “I wanna go, please daddy, can we go see the lights?” She pleaded. She was an eager child, but she rarely made a fuzz. A calm girl with a lot of fire in her. “We will all go, but you both have to behave,” Buffy said, moving the pan to the table, sitting down across from Baal besides Nessa. This way Noah could always look at her, and it had helped making their mornings rather calm. “And if you are both acting like big boys and girls, I might let you have a sweet,” she said with a smile. Nessa’s face lit up at the mention of candy. She loved candy, but mostly because they only got it on rare occasions. Buffy liked sweets herself, but she wanted to place a good example for their children, so sweet things were mostly reserved for days where they were out and about. Or when Buffy decided to bake something. “I am a big girl,” Nessa argued, making Buffy chuckle. “Of course you are little dove, but I want all of town to know that as well,” Buffy said, looking at Baal with a gentle look in her eyes. Her green always seemed to soften up when she looked at her husband. Some people had called it bedroom eyes, but if they saw how she looked when her and Baal were at it, they would probably be surprised. “How are the two love birds by the way? They seem to be nesting a lot,” Buffy chuckled, taking a sip of her coffee. Getting to know Dinah had been a rough ride, but when Nessa had come along, something had changed between the two. And it had only been reinforced as Noah was born. |

| He definitely liked the idea of adding more children to their little family. As many as they possibly could, as long as he would keep seeing those bits of her reflecting off on them all. He was taking every tauntrum of Noah’s with a calm smile because in the end, he knew that only a temper that fierce had sprung from Buffy’s strong will. He chuckled at her remark about the curls being a blessing, not really too sure if he agreed with her on that one. Noah was ready to scream when Buffy thankfully got to him in time, making the toddler watch her as she looked down at the doll, pointing at it as his words had gone incoherent in his distress. He nodded at her words, making a small sniffle as his emotions had already been so strong that he had been on the verge to form tears in his eyes. When she grabbed the doll to mimic the sound of a blast, Noah gasped as he watched the doll with surprise to quickly grab it as she held him to the edge. He smiled brightly at her words, chuckling as he pulled the doll to him to inspect his boots, to see if he really had been wearing rocket boots all along.
Baal nodded at Buffy’s words to Nessa’s question. Noah looked up but he couldnt understand who we were, nor did he have the ability to think about expressing his confusion. Instead he just seemed to pull a little frown till there was a mention of sweets. His eyes lighted up as he jumped in his seat with excitement, “Schweets!” He exclained n joy. Baal raised an eyebrow at his son as he new the little lion hadnt ever seemed to like sweets, but fruits was what he considered to be the sweets Buffy was talking about. Noah had always loved fruits more than anything, Baal could have sworn that their son would live off on purely melon sorts if he ever got to choose. He turned his eyes to Nessa at her protest, smiling as he was placing bread around on everyone’s plates - Well not Noah’s but he would come to that soon. He lifted his eyes to meet Buffy’s as he felt her look. There was just something about her eyes that could make his heart melt over and over like had it been the first time she looked at him that way. He sat down as he had given himself and Buffy the pieces of bread that were needed. Noah liked his without crusts and only butter, so that was what Baal was making for him - Cutting the crustless bread to small pieces that the toddler could easily grab with his fingers. He sighed with a smile at Buffy’s question while he prepared their son’s breakfast, “They are. From what she’s told me, they’re doing great. She’s really happy with Jake,” he said though there seemed to be something that was nagging him, “But I have a feeling that even though she’s happy, a part of her is still missing Eaden,” he then said as he placed the pieces on Noah’s place before serving it to him. Noah whined with delight as he started grabbing the pieces one by one to eat. Baal leaned back into his chair as he buttered his own bread, pulling at a short smile. “I’m happy that he hasnt shut all of us out, but I do wish he would return my calls,” he then said, knowing that Buffy was probably the only one that Eaden had seemed to care to keep in contact with, though it seemed to be no more than a reminder that he was still alive more than it was meaningful updates of sorts. |

| Buffy chuckled lighthearted at Noah's outburst, placing a hand on her stomach as the chuckle seemed to emanate from deep down. She knew all she would have to do was buy some pre-cut melon's in tesco and the boy would be set, Nessa on the other hand always had a rough time choosing her sweet. Seeing Baal handle it all while Buffy had her cup of coffee was so relaxing. Leaning a bit back in her chair as she closed her eyes for a second just to take in the moment. Speaking about Dinah always seemed to make Nessa in a good mood. The girl idolized her big sister, and when she saw Jake she was always easy to laughter. Buffy sighed at the mention of Eaden, knowing he was feeling bad, even though he had just stated where he was in his last message. "I'll invite him for Christmas," Buffy said in a thoughtful voice. The demon would probably not come, but it was the invitation that counted in matters like these. "As well as Dinah and Jake, I know I can't fix something, but we are at least a family," she said in a calm voice. "And auntie Leona keeps asking for more pictures of you two," she said with a chuckle looking at Noah and then Nessa before she reached over to spread some jam on her bread. "My father will get an invite, although he probably will decline because of business, my auntie, and anyone else we might like to invite; Perhaps Vanessa?" she suggested, although it wasn't really up for debate. Once Buffy had set her mind to something she followed through with it. "Last time we were all gathered was at our wedding, and I want this year to be extra special," she said with a hint of a smile as she took a bite of her breakfast. That day, people had put aside their pride; well all except her father. Eaden had walked her down the aisle and Vanessa had gotten the title of best man, although she was a woman. To think it was five years ago already, and Buffy hadn't aged visibly since then. Nessa was spreading butter on her bread just fine and sat for a while looking at the selection of jams and other toppings. "Mummy, do we have any marmite?" she asked curiously. Buffy looked at her daughter, a smile on her lips as she got up from her seat, opening a cabinet and taking out the small brown jar. Buffy enjoyed marmite from time to time, but Nessa seemed to love it. "You want some cucumbers as well?" Buffy asked, making Nessa nod with a bright smile. Most children liked the usual cucumber sandwich, but Nessa added marmite to the mix, which made Buffy hope that the girl at least got some nutrients. Buffy took out a cucumber from the fridge, running it under the cold tap before she started slicing neat slices of the vegetable. "Love, could you perhaps call Dinah and set up at time we can meet them? They live closer to the city centre, so it would be nice if we could just meet them there," Buffy asked, a gentle smile on her lips as she handed the cucumbers to Nessa, placing a few slices at Noah's plate as well. Even if he didn't want them, he wanted them anyways to not be excluded from what his sister was getting. "If they were up for it we could grab some cream tea in the centre?" she suggested. |
