This had been a long, tedious day. Alistair really, really hated being at school, it triggered the slight social anxiety his disorder had caused him, and he constantly sat and fidgeted with one of his fidget cubes or fidget spinners in class, under the table so the teacher wouldn't get mad. He'd almost hyperventilated when he had to stand up in front of class and present the subject he'd studied the past week, but finally, a long time after he'd sat back down, the lightheadedness had disappeared. But this meant that as soon as the bell had rung, signalling the end of the schoolday, he'd basically fled to the courtyard at the back of the academy, seating himself in a corner away from everybody else as he pulled out his drawing pad and began casually doodling, music from his phone in one ear as he hummed along to the song he heard. He casually ran a hand through his longer hair, puffing a strand away from his eyes as he sat there, bent over his drawing and tapping his foot in the rhythm of the music. Drawing always helped him relax, helped him unwind after a long day of being confined so close, with so many people, stressing over trying to decipher the body language of everyone, all the small social cues that everybody else seemed to automatically translate, while he had to consciously think about what they meant, what mood they conveyed. That was why he hated crowds - too much information, too fast, that needed to be deciphered before he understood any of it. This was why he cherished his alone time, it allowed him to just stress off, and not have to worry about decoding any of all that shit. |
