A little bit dangerous

It wasn’t like she didn’t understand, it would be a lie if she didn’t look at River and knew exactly what he was planning. But when she had gone to the funeral, when she had seen him, it had taken her breath away, so much so, that she hadn’t been able to talk with him about it even though she knew she had to. It had annoyed her immensely that she knew something was happening, but she couldn’t see far enough into the future to know what exactly. Already knowing that people would tell her that it wasn’t her business, and she should just leave him be, she had found her way to the Elysian Casino, her eyes travelled to Lucille, yet another thing where she hadn’t been able to see far enough to know just what would happen, it made her wonder, could she have prevented this? But like anything else, she knew that it would be far too dangerous to try to change the outcome when the deaths of people were involved.

She nodded shortly to the harpy before she walked up the stairs to his office, with a small knock she announced her arrival, knowing he would have been able to smell her as soon as she had set her foot on the premisses “River,” she said with a soft voice as she opened the door and stepped inside.

Even Kailani noticed her sister in the crowd, but the shell of the siren just kept going almost mindlessly working while her mind tried to figure out how she was supposed to deal with all of this. Because everything was so damn empty. Hollow really. Like nothing really mattered, which was a dangerous feeling to leave the siren with.

River had mostly kept to himself, not been in the mood to talk with anything but his fists really - so to not let anyone taste them he had kept to himself. He was making a plan, a great one if he said so himself. Knowing just who to reach out to for it to work, and once River put his mind to something; everyone would be a fool not to believe he would make it happen. And he would make sure that the ones involved with Juliya's death suffered in ways they couldn't possibly imagine. River knew Maera was there in the casino, but he hadn't really put much effort into knowing why, it could be very possible that they were here to make sure Kailani was alright. But as it knocked on the door and she came in to his office he realized it wasn't Kailani she was here to see. "Maera, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

Now she knew that Delphine was on the case of making sure that Kai was all right, and she had an inkling that she wasn’t really the one that could make her older sister feel better.  
And now that she stood here looking at River, she wasn’t even sure if she could make him feel better either. It almost took her breath away when she stood there, letting the door close behind her while she was still facing River.
There were all the ordinary things she could ask him; how was he doing (but she already knew that), what was he doing (by the looks of it, he was plotting revenge), and if there was anything she could do (the answer would be no).
Instead, she pushed away from the door and walked toward him; her hands found the papers and things that were placed on the table in front of him, pushing them gently aside. “I’m not telling you to put your plans away or that you shouldn’t do them, but I’m asking you to take a break, just an hour, no more”, she whispered, placing herself between him and the desk, looking into his eyes as to wait how he would react.

River let out a sigh and narrowed his eyes a little, asking him to take a break from his consuming plan on revenge. He knew if he wanted it done to the perfect little detail he needed to run it by Francis, which was much easier with him and his brother running Southside by now. And if anyone could make a master plan with every single thing thought out if would be Francis. "It's alright, I needed to run this through with a friend either way - maybe we can drive to Southside?" He suggested as she placed herself between him and the desk, which made him raise his brow a little bit. "If I don't do something Veronica is going to something seriously stupid, and there is only so much impulsive behavior this family is going to survive," he let out a sigh keeping his eyes at the siren. He felt his empire being at the most fragile place, rebuilding itself after the first few blows. Clearly what Archibald Barnes and Bast wanted from this, to see the empire fall, but River was not so easy to keep down on the ground. But one enemy at the time, so fuck Archie and Bast when it came to making sure that Veronica and Orion didn't go into this madness completely alone. Because revenge was sometimes a lonely path if it consumed you.

She let out a small, exasperated sigh left her; she could not believe him—she had just told him to take a break, and he wanted them to go to Southside, probably because he wanted to talk with Francis or Linus, get their point of view in the matter, or just get their help.  
Her lips pursed, and it was clear to see that she was displeased with him; she was trying to get him to know that he wasn’t responsible for what his daughter or son did. He should leave this foolish notion behind him and do what he was good at, being a host—run this casino, nothing more, nothing less. “Please—like she has that from strangers” her arms crossed in front of her chest, for a moment, she wondered if she was better off going down to her sister, taking her out, making her do something besides hanging around down in the bar with that moody look on her face.
“You should give your children some more credit; they will do just fine without you looming over them or making sure that every little element has been exhausted—let me ask you a question, what do you think Orion was running around doing after you got here? He is much smarter and more detail-oriented than you give him credit for,” she pointed out, but even though she was cross at him, she didn’t move, keeping her eyes locked with his.

A dry chuckle left him. Of course he knew most of his children's personality traits cam from how he had raised him. He knew that. He also knew that his children were capable of far more than he sometimes let others believe, because well, sometimes River just came across as someone who only cared about what happened in front of his nose and not everywhere else. "I know what Orion is running around, I do give my children credit as a matter of fact. I just have to share that with everyone else," he pointed out and raised his brow a little bit. Sometimes it had its benefits coming of as a selfish bastard without care for others than himself, other times it annoyed him, because if there was anything that mattered to him it was the family: the empire he had built here. That included his children. "Is that so hard to believe, eh?" He moved just a few inches closer towards her, given they already were pretty close the space between them became less, and he didn't move his alluring eyes away from hers.

She lifted her brow, crossed her arms in front of her chest, and tilted her chin a little. He wasn’t going to get away with it that easy, and the longer she could keep him preoccupied, the longer he had taken a break, or at least that was what she decided to believe in. She wasn’t sure what he wanted or if he wanted anything when it came down to it. Despite her ability he had always been so delightfully challenging to figure out—but right now, it annoyed her, made her angry even because she had no idea what he was planning or doing if this was just a simple trick to push her out of the way and tell her that he was fine. Maybe even using her as a distraction, and then when he was done, she could go, and he would just dive back into whatever it was he was doing. She wouldn’t stand for it, and even though she really wanted to—she was not a second choice, and then her company was needed elsewhere. “Please”, she scoffed and stepped away from him, knowing he could easily just ask her what she desired, and she wouldn’t be able to resist telling him just exactly what and whom she craved. Moving around the table, she took her purse; “I’ll be at the bar, making sure that my sister doesn’t lose her spark, and you then end up losing your lucky charm as well.”

River narrowed his eyes a little as she took a step away from him. He was curious about what was going on inside her pretty little head, why come all the way up here to spent time with him, if all she wanted was look after Kailani. Not that River didn't saw it as something important that they took care of Kailani, he was worried about whatever Acacia could have done or said to her, or if it simply was the cruel pain of a broken heart that tormented the siren. Either way, none of it was a good sign. The luck had taken a slap since, not that he had complained. "Alright then, save me a drink," he replied then letting her go downstairs. Waiting around a few minutes if not only seconds, before he gave up on his planning and headed downstairs to join her.
