Mile high

Now, JJ had been bored so for once in his dear life, he thought, I’m going to the dentist. Now, how well would one think the condition was for someone, who probably never really visited a dentist or took care of his teeth, would be? Of course, whenever he had felt any trouble, it was just fixed with a little bit of magic. No biggie there. But he had gotten a remark, and that was enough for him to laugh, and tell the dentist he was wrong. With a flick of JJ’s fingers, his teeth were once again in perfect conditions. He persuaded the dentist to do over, and as right as JJ was, his teeth were in perfect condition. The dentist apologized a few times, but with a laugh JJ told him to use the scalpel for something that wasn’t for a dental procedure. With a few blood splatters on his t-shirt, he put on his hoodie, so it was hidden away for now. He went out to the front desk and told the secretary that he was going to take the whole jar of lollies and there had been an accident in the room he had been in, and that she should probably call an ambulance. With a small chuckle he took the jaw and left without paying the bill.

With a lollypop in his mouth he walked down the street, completely minding his own business, and humming a sweet song he knew. The song was named something with unhealthy, wasn’t it? He noticed a sweet kid and his mother walk towards him. With a smile, he stopped them and offered the kid a lollypop, but as the kid was about to take the lolly, he pulled it away from the kid's reach, “Fooled!” and started walking, laughing.

That was approximately when he heard a somewhat familiar voice that gained his attention with a smile. He looked towards the mother who was taking care of her crying child and with a shrug, he looked at her and jumped in before he handed her a lolly. “Want one?”

A bright smile formed over her lips as he offered her a lolly after getting in her car. At first, her eyes darted towards the now crying kid; maybe she should be offended or even angry at him. But all she could do was laugh, a warm bobbly one that she could feel form in her chest pressing through her throat. When the laughter died, her hand grabbed the lolly out of his mouth, then the other found his neck, and she pulled him into a short but passionate kiss. “Don’t mind if I do”, she mused, and instead of taking the one he had offered, she took the one that had been in his mouth and put it in her own. Her foot pressed down on the speeder, and off they went; the wind grabbed her hair and threw it behind her, and as the music blasted from the speakers, it felt like they were flying down the road, way over the speed limit. Not that Veronica cared; she rarely got in crashes because of her possessed reflexes.
“So, JJ, where do you want to go?” she let her hand find the nape of his neck and quickly started to play with his beautiful curls.

JJ’s smile widened as she started laughing. Her laughter was contagious. When she took his lollipop, his eyes widened a little surprised. Did she want his? Not that he minded, after all, he had plenty of lollies since he had taken the whole jar from the dentist. Before he could think much, he was pulled in for a kiss. A kiss that made his eyes shut, but brows find the sky. A small laughter left him, as she mused at him and took his lollypop. When she pressed the speeder, he leaned properly back in his seat and opened the next lolly to entertain his mouth with.
The wind blasted his curls backwards, making his forehead seem slightly bigger than usual. He sat with closed eyes and enjoyed everything, didn’t even mind the speed. He knew she was a good driver and most often, the only reason why she would end up in a crash, would be because the car didn’t react as according to her reflexes. He would only really care if she was about to run over someone who he seemingly cared for, but that list was incredibly short anyway, so the chance of them being on the road was relatively small. A sweet hum left him as she played with his hair, and he turned his head slowly towards her. “I’m somewhat hungry,” he told her before eh opened his eyes. He grumbled a little, “So maybe we should find something where you can get satisfied too?”

Hunger. Now that was something she understood, as a vampire, there was always a hunger in you, whether for power, love or just the pure and simple need for blood to survive.
Her fingers glided away from his hair down his chin before she gently grabbed it, turning it towards her as she didn’t even look at the road, not that she needed to. “Well, then I know just the place”, she mused; her hand left his skin and found the gearstick.

It didn’t take long before they finally found the place she had been thinking about. A small restaurant placed snugly inside an alley, a little dark and dungy, but what could you expect from a place that served food and blood?
She parked the car and got out of it. She was waiting for JJ to do the same before she locked. Her hand followed the car's curves as she walked around it toward him and took his hand. “Let’s go, my Prince”, she hummed and quickly pulled him along with her. Veronica had always been the pushy type that didn’t take no for an answer, and when she wanted something then, she took it no matter who might object or was against it.
As she stepped into the restaurant, it was dark and clearly made for people to have privacy wherever they were seated in the room. Making sure no one could look at what was done at the different tables. As the host noticed who had stepped inside, it didn’t take long before they were sitting in a nice little alcove with curtain drapes hanging down to the floor, almost shielding them from the rest of the world. Veronica hummed thanks as she took the menu and let her blue eyes scan what she could be offered. All the while, her foot slipped out of her high heel, and she pressed it against his upper shin by directing it carefully. “Anything seems interesting to you?” she asked without looking up.

A slightly crooked smile grew as she took his chin, turned it a little more, and informed him that she knew just the place.
When she parked the car, he got out, and before he got very far, she had gotten to his side, taking his hand. Without a word, he followed her quick pace inside. It was almost as if the host was afraid that if they waited too long, something would happen because they received a table quite quickly. It reminded JJ of his father who had his little table at this very fine golden restaurant. JJ hated that restaurant. So posh. He received a menu after her and started looking at the pages and offerings. He hummed thoughtfully, making his eyes run through the pages. Anything interesting… He felt how her foot pressed up against his shin, which made his lip curl a little upward. He let go of the menu with one of his hands to hold onto her foot and warm it, even though it was somewhat pointless to warm her up. It could feel nice to her, right? He looked up at her, “Everything seems quite delicious here,” he said with his eyes staying on her. Of course, he should probably just pick something. But for the fun of it, he might just say a random number and see what he would end up getting.

Her lips curled into a soft expression as she felt his warm hand fold around her foot. Now at first, it was cold to the touch, just as any vampire, but as if his mere touch managed to warm it up and not her ability that made the blood in her veins flow at a stronger pace warming up her typically cold body.
“You’re quite right”, she whispered and lifted the foot even further up, placing it between his legs on the chair that he was sitting on.
Then the waiter came back to see if they were ready to order. Veronica asked for a flask of fairy blood and a nice, rare steak with garniture and a red wine sauce. Maybe it was boring, but sometimes the most boring things were the best things because one could never go wrong with simplicity. She then handed the menu to the waiter, and as he left, she leaned forward toward JJ. She narrowed her eyes, “something seems different about you”, and let her tongue glide over her lips. “what has happened?” she wondered, lifting a brow almost as if she showed that he had her full attention with that simple gesture.

As she moved her foot up, he let his hand cup around her achilles, supporting her foot. When the waiter arrived, he ordered a slightly finer steak and a glass of wine. Classic. The waiter got the menu, and JJ’s eyes followed the waiter until he couldn’t see him anymore. JJ noticed how she leaned forward, and when she narrowed her eyes, he looked towards her. He scoffed shortly as she said there was something different about him. “Many things,” he revealed and leaned a little back, sitting more on the tip of the seat almost with her foot on his lap. Both his hands found her foot now, though mostly caressing the back of her lower leg, “It has been a couple of years too, hasn’t it?” he wondered, raising a brow. He had after all been a part of that cult for way too many years. There was the whole chaos with Lara, how he had lost her, but found her and bonded with her, only to get the bond cut again. How he had met with Kaleen who had refilled him with energy and how he had felt drained after he had met with Willow. Now he mostly just stood in a giant pit of confusion. It had already been a month since he had met with Willow. He simply felt like she had left with his heart and everyday was so difficult to get through without it – without her.

Of course, many things had happened; just as he pointed out, it had been a couple of years now. But even then, there was something else; she couldn’t really put her finger on it. “It has”, she mumbled but quickly fell into a moment of bliss; feeling his hand gliding under her calf, she closed her eyes and leaned her head back, clearly enjoying whatever he was doing to her. It also gave her time to rephrase the sentences she had in her mind.
Finally, she lifted her head and looked at him “, but still, something tells me that things are different this time around” she let her tongue glide over her lips and took away her foot from him. “Ah, Willow”, she gave him an understanding smile and then let her eyes drift into the room they were sitting in; now she understood why one could get infuriated with the beautiful nature spirit. “Even though you decided to take a step away from your family, you really think it will be different this time around?” she asked, lifting a brow as she returned her gaze toward him. Not flinching as she kept her eyes locked with his.

He pulled a smug smile to see how she appreciated how he gently massaged her calf, and simply held it. His brows raised as she lifted her head. He tilted his head a little, letting go of the brow, but wondering what she was thinking of.
Willow.
His hands came to a stop on her lower leg and he leaned a little back, almost feeling defeated by the simple mention. You really think…- He clenched his jaw and looked away from her for a moment, “I don’t know,” he exhaled and looked back to her, “I am hopeful,” he said pulling a soft smile, noticing how she had her eyes completely locked at his. “And you think I am stupid?” he wondered slowly retrieving his hands from her leg.

She titled her head and then shook it. “No, I don’t”, she said and then looked towards the waiter as he walked over with their drinks and a small bread basket filled with freshly baked bread. She thanked him with a smile before she took one and started breaking it apart. “Hope is more than most people have, and if you really want her and she wants you, you’ll make it work”, she added, making a slight shrug, not knowing what else to say. She herself had been in a couple of relationships; she had been married and divorced. Or well, made sure that the to death do us part had been in effect, learning from her mother, she guessed.
“And if you ever change your mind, you’ll know where to find me” she winked at him and put a piece of bread inside her mouth and started chewing it thoughtfully.

She didn’t think he was stupid. Hopelessly in love, blinded by it. Even though the waiter arrived with drinks and bread he didn’t take his eyes of her. He pulled a sad smile when she mentioned that hope was more than what most people had, one more time when she mentioned if she wanted him. The latter was the only thing he occasionally believed was a missing factor. He felt like everything laid in his hands, and it was somehow never enough to knock on his sister’s or his niece’s door. They had things to do, and it simply was difficult to get a good grip on them so he could talk his case. A smug smile and a short chuckle left him as she informed him that he knew where to find her. “That sounds very interesting, and also very tempting,” he chuckled dryly and picked up his wine to take a sip of it.

She pressed her brows together and then gave him a small laugh before putting another piece of bread in her mouth. “Well, you know me, I am to please, call it a hazard of growing up with a father like River”, she mused; now she knew she had been lucky because River had actually cared for her mother, which meant he cared for the children she had given him. There were other kids that hadn’t enjoyed the same fate, Cyrus being one of them. Maybe she should pay him a visit, see how he was faring now that his mother wasn’t alive anymore.
“But screw all the others, you go for what you want; I just wish you would stop doing things because you thought it is what others want you to do, start asking yourself what do I want, and then just go for it, fuck the rest” she winked and then ate the last of the bread that she had in her hands and then took the glass of blood. Her eyes closed as the delicate smell of fairy hit her nose, then she took a sip and leaned back in her seat. Now, this was a small slice of heaven.

JJ laughed a little, looking away shortly by the mention of her father. River was a man who wasn’t liked by many, but by some. “See, that I like to hear,” he added. She shared some of her thoughts, how she believed he should aim for what he wanted, and not work for what others expected him to do. “Cheers,” he said raising his glass with her, “Fuck the others,” he said, making his glass clink with hers before he took a sip of his wine. He sat back for a moment enjoying the taste in his mouth. He put his glass back on the table, and shuffled around on the seat, moving around so he ended up sitting next to her.
When she looked at him, he placed both his hands behind her neck and pulled her into a kiss. As of right now, what he wanted, was to think of something else than the misery in his life, and that might just lead to some drastic and chaotic ideas.

“Cheers,” she said with her signature smirk, then she took a sip and nodded before giving him a wink. That was right, fuck the others. If they didn’t like JJ, why should he care? He should just find the people that would like him, no matter what version of him he was. However, her eyes did become a little bigger as he started moving around, and before she knew it, he was sitting right by her side. Licking her lips to make sure that all the small rests of blood were gone, she placed the wineglass on the table, just in time for his hands to find her neck and pulled her in for a kiss. A small pleasured gasp left her, and her hand quickly found his thigh, moving it upward just where the hip and pelvis connect. She pulled away, just enough to let her teeth take his bottom lip and pulled it out, her eyes looking into his. She liked him so much more when he just went for what he wanted instead of hiding away.

Even though Veronica had licked her lips from any blood on them, it didn’t remove the taste. He could still taste the blood on her lips, and somehow, it just woke something else in him. It was almost satisfying. The pleasured gasp certainly also started something, and it was only brought more to life when her hand found his groin. When she pulled away, a soft breath escaped him, and he slowly opened his eyes. He couldn’t possibly have overstepped. He clearly hadn’t the way she let her teeth bite his lip. A soft groan left him while he looked into her eyes before he closed his eyes yet again. One hand gilded to her jaw instead, angling their heads a little to deepen the kiss and invite her for a much more intimate kiss. To him, he could stay here until they got their meals. Hell, he wouldn’t even mind if the food got a little cold if they got too occupied with each other one way or another.

Oh, she hadn’t minded it, not at all if she was being honest. This was just what she wanted, what she needed. She had never understood this hatred and annoyance that everyone always felt toward the young warlock; she herself could see what lay behind his façade, what was hiding away in that head of his when he made his snarky remarks and did as most people would see as wrong. Who else would one expect people to be when the parents had given him life and then just discarded him as if he was trash or maybe even worse than that.
She parted her lips for him and let her tongue dance with his; when the waiter came back to ask if there was anything else they needed to drink, she waved her hand before he could open his mouth, then she made another wave, and the waiter made sure to pull the curtains so they could be in complete privacy, or as private as it could be when they were still in the restaurant.

The kiss got more intimate, and as she raised her hand to wave the waiter away, he opened one eye just a little, to see what she was doing. A soft hum left him as the curtains ended up giving them more privacy.  One hand removed itself from her, and with a wave with it, the table shrunk a little, so they had more space to work with. Both his hands then found her hips and gestured for her to get on top. He wasn’t going to try and force her to, because he knew very well that in a fight like that, he would most certainly lose. “We should’ve ordered something lighter,” he whispered between some kisses where he needed air. “It’s it getting a little hot in here?” he whispered after a while even though she wasn’t as warm as him, and seemingly should be cooling him off, it certainly didn’t.

When his hands found her hips, she didn’t second guess it and quickly got onto his lap; if anything, she appreciated the gesture and found this far more comfortable than they had been sitting before.
A laugh left her, and she leaned a little away so she could look at him, her hands finding their way into his hair, where she gently started moving her fingers through those beautiful curls. “It might be getting a little hot”, she hummed, moving her eyes from her fingers down to his eyes; a smile formed over her lips before she leaned down and started giving him featherlike kisses over his cheeks, by the curve of his brow, down his cheekbone to his jaw before she finally pressed a small kiss against his lips. “But we could always start eating now if you want to cool down”, she hummed, feeling their breaths mix as she hadn’t moved far away from his mouth.

They moved so easily together. She knew what he wished for when he touched her simple places. JJ closed his eyes shortly as her fingers found their way into his curly hair. He chuckled a little as she agreed that it was getting a little hot in there. He shortly looked at her, and took in her glorious look. His eyes closed as she leaned in again. An almost sweet and pleasured hum left him as she kissed his cheeks. It felt so comfortable. Adored almost. He reciprocated the kiss when she reached his lips.
Her suggestion made a wider and slightly wicked smile spread on his lips. “I think I’m good for now,” it left almost as a growl from him. He placed his lips against hers, gently, before he softly bit onto her lip, inviting for more heat to be created between them, and for their breaths to mix even more.
