A casual night for once -Abigal

It had been quite a while since the bad events had happened, and Kyle was thankful for a little peace and quiet. The slit cheekbone had become a small scar that would probably disappear sometime. Kyle wasnt bothered if it didnt, it was a mark on the worst that had happened with a happy ending to it. He had been placed on castleduty and he frankly hated it. It was so boring to walk the castle but he had to do it, hoping to see Abigal whenever she wasnt busy. He knew that Mr Burns had been assigned to her, and he knew that it must had been boring for her as well. As night began to fall over the castle, Kyle thought it would be fun to wait for Abigal to pass the hall he was in. He stood around the corner as he caught her scent coming closer. When she passed, he jumped from the wall he was pressed against, wrapping his arms around her from behind to lift her up and walk around in a circle, all so fast, till when he puther down, she would face the wall. He turned her around and put both of hos hands on the sides of her head as he kissed her passionatly while he lightly pressed her up against the wall.

He chuckled heartily as he leaned back and waited for her reaction.

Being close to her again, feeling her body against his. It was euphoric and like a drug addict, he needed more of it - More of her. He couldnt hold his laughter back when she slapped his chest, pressing himself closer to her as he placed small kisses on her nose. But she was right, and he frowned shortly, just to smile again. “I know, I know,” he apologized, “.. But I really needed to get my fix of you,” he said, this time in a lower tone, just as she proposed going into her room. The tease was getting to him. “I might aswell. Could be that someone was hiding under your bed, waiting for you to sleep. Cant risk that,” he said, unwillingly letting her go and stepping back as someone stepped into the hallway and walled past them. He looked away as he hastily tried to wipe off her lipstick with the back of his hand. The man stopped and looked at them. “Mr Grimm?” He asked. Kyle cleared his throat and looked at the man. “Boss,” he greeted in a slight nervous tone, but his boss didnt seem to notice. He looked from Kyle to Abigal. “Make sure the princess gets to her quarters, it’s getting late...” then he looked at Kyle, “Did you eat something? You have a little...” he pointed at the corner of his own mouth. Kyle almost looked kinda pale but he smiled and shook his head. “Sorry. I forgot to look in a mirror before my watch,”

The boss didnt protest at Abigals rather rude leave, but nodded at Kyle and went on his way. Kyle exhaled deeply and turned towards Abigal to follow her. He looked around her room with an amazed look as he then looked at her, chuckling at her words, he answered:” Sounds like a promise of a good night,”. He looked at her as she went out to the bathroom. He sat down on her bed and leaned back on his arms as she talked. He laughed. “You wouldn’t like him if you had to hear him go on about fishing for 5 hours straight. The man loves his grandchildren and fishing. Nothing else matters,” he explained, “I’d personally prefer the silence,” he looked at the bathroom door, tilting his head to see if he could get a glimpse of her sitting at the table.

"That is true. It's like he has two faces - A face for work, and another for his actual being," he laughed as he kept tilting, almost crawling along the bed, sitting back up as she suddenly stood in the doorway with a smirk on her face. He got up and walked over to her, putting his warm hands on her shoulders to lean forward and plant a gently kiss on her neck. He then removed one hand, grabbing the zipper to pull it down slowly in a teasing matter. "It looked lovely on you. A shame I only saw it for a brief time," he murmured as he let her go and turned her around. He smiled softly as he looked at her face, grabbing her face lightly to run his thumb over her cheek. "I don't get why you have a beauty enhancing ability, you're already so enchantingly beautiful," he said in a low voice, inspecting her wonderful face with his eyes.

As she pulled him closer, he wrapped his hands around her, feeling her skin as he held her closer. A soft sigh left his lips at the thought of holding her in his arms all day, “There’s nothing I’d rather do,” he responded with a almost dreamy tone. But as much as he wanted it, he knew they couldnt. It was too risky, as they knew so well - Kyle was dreading it nonetheless.
“I was so afraid of losing you. And I’m not very good at losing people, so I’m happy that I didnt have to” he admitted, kissing her cheeks and then her nose. He smiled and kept running his thumb up and down her back. He turned them around, lifting her up by her thigh as he walked to the bed and put her down, with him over her. He kissed her neck, but not in the notion of something sexual - Just soft and passionate small kisses.

He looked at her with surprise in his eyes as she said that they were to go back to Italy on saturday. Somehpw the surprise was overwhelmed by happiness of knowing that they could at least not be as secretive at her house. He kissed her chin softly, “Well that’s a relief. We could really use a break from having to worry about royal matters, and especially to get away from the all the danger,” he said as he gently moved some hair away from her face and behind her ear as she said her father wasnt very happy about it. He scoffed, “That’s odd, I would have thought that a father would want safety for his daughter. But I can also see why he’d miss you. If I dont see you for a day, I’d feel like I’m going crazy” he said with a light smile as he rolled off her and onto his side as he lifted his head with his hand to lean on his elbow. He knew that she was thinking about the night and it wasnt pleasant thought, “Look. What happened that night was a true shitshow. I can see that you’re bothered by it,” he concluded, looking at Abigal with an expression that told her he wasnt a fool. He exhaled deeply and laid down on the bed to look at the ceiling. “So let’s talk about it. Start with what’s on your mind right now,” he said glancing at her with a slightly concerned expression. But who wouldnt be after what they had been through?

When she said that it was her job to protect him as well, he had a puzzled expression. He did promise her not to judge and he wasnt planning on doing so. “Protect me? You never told me of this,” he said as he clearly wanted her to elaborate. He wasnt really sure what she meant, it didnt seem to make sense at all. Had she seen someone from his family? He wasnt sure how ghost hauntings worked, and he didnt know if he would get an answer if he asked.
When she had first started her talk about England being full of death, he just nodded and grabbed her hand, listening to her troubles. But then the subject changed a bit and she projected it towards him. He knew what she meant when she talked about a list of loved ones that had been lost. He looked away, just staring at the bedframe in front of them with a sort of pained look as he let her finish talking. He closed his eyes for a short time before he opened them and looked down at her, still holding her hand. “Are you implying that you want to know who I’ve lost?” He asked as a dumb question, but he needed to be completely sure. Also a little while longer of not having to talk about it wasnt too bad.
She then changed the subject, talking about the strength of everyone beside her. Still a little shaken from the reminder of his list, he could still find a small smile and a kiss to give her temple. “Now you’re being silly. You useless? You killed 3 men in an instant, endured torture, you came back to save me from becoming a monster,” he sighed quietly, clearly not feeling happy about her selling herself so short. “I fought one guy and got badly bruised, I was also caught by surprise and shot in the leg which rendered me useless for a while,[/color]” - “I went out there again and achieved nothing but more scars. Should that define my worth?” He asked her, squeezing her hand gently. He then shool his head, it wasnt the point. “What I really meant is. It doesnt matter how many people you hurt or killed. It’s about the people you saved. And you saved us all,” he said with a slight smile.

When she told him about her experiences with losing people, he felt sad for her, knowing what it felt like to lose people. "I lost my sister too. She wasnt there when the men took me away. It must have been horrible to come back to," he said emotionless. But Abigal had more stories, of how she lost her own children. Kyle looked at her and put his hand on her face, caressing her cheek with his thumb. "The worst thing a parent can experience is losing their young child. We expect them to outlive us, and live forever. But when they die, we get hit in the face with their mortality, our mortality. I know I felt pretty invincible with my daughter at my side," he said, finally telling her that he had a daughter. It had never been on his papers, actually a lot of his life hadnt been on papers, because he had lived long before there even was a system for that. But then he knew that he had to tell her his story as well, he was just afraid of how the words would affect him, seeing that he had only told one other person his whole life. He laid down on his back, taking a moment to just stare into nothing, his face empty of any expression.

He exhaled shakingly as he looked at the ceiling. And then the story started:

Kyle hadn't been more than 28 when winter was nearing and the village needed more wood to keep warm. He had brought his daughter along, watching her do her little skipping through the woodland, laughing whenever a stick were to break or when leaves flew up from her feet. Kyle smiled to himself as he carried an axe and a little wagon with wood. "When we get home, can I go to the riverbank?" his daughter asked with big eyes, and Kyle frowned shortly. "It's getting dark, Minerva. I wouldnt want you to skip directly into the water when it's getting colder. Wouldnt want you to have to stay inside, when you could be playing with your friends?" he asked with a light smile. Minerva wasnt too happy about it, but she was a smart girl and could see what Kyle meant. She skipped ahead as they were nearing the village, lifting leaves that she threw into the sky and laughed as they rained down on her.
When they arrived, he could see some of the townsfolk talking to some strangers, one of his neighbors had been yelling at the guy. Kyle stepped forward and looked at both parts. "What's going on?" he asked and looked at the strangers. He noticed how they were all in battle garments, which wasnt usually a good sign. He sighed silently to himself as the stranger started talking. "We were just on our way home from a long trip with our wagons, but sadly we couldnt make it before evening. We're out of food, so we were asking this kind man if your village could spare some," he grinned, with ugly rotten teeth. Kyle didnt feel safe, knowing they would be around. But he told Abigal that back then, people didnt know much about what happened elsewhere. Strangers were usually seen as danger. So they refused to share their food, which didnt seem to please the strange man with rotten teeth. He looked at Minerva and his grin grew bigger, "You have a pretty daughter. Take care of her, and make sure she stays close by, who knows whats lurking around waiting for a pretty thing like her," he told Kyle as he turned around and ordered the wagons to continue. That was usually what happened.
So as night hit, Kyle sat on his daughters bed with her in his arms, holding her close as he told her stories about her mother. "She was kind of like you. We grew up together, and I swear that she'd skip around, the same way as you. I see so much of her in you," he told her, going on about a story of how happy the mother was about getting pregnant, how excited she was to see her daughter, making offerings to the gods to make her perfect. Minerva had fallen asleep with a happy smile and Kyle looked at her with a dreamy look. He may had lost the love of his life, but it was replaced by another love of his life, his beautiful little girl. He caressed her forehead, sitting by her side for as long as he could before he went to bed.
But at dawn, screams and the sounds of metal slashing people woke him up. He hurried out of bed and pulled some light clothes on as he walked out to check on Minerva but she wasnt there. He went out of the house and looked around, his whole village decimated to bloody corpses. He looked around, searching for his daughter around the dead, but she wasnt there. Suddenly he heard her scream and he ran to her to see the man with the rotten teeth hold her by her long black hair. "Father!" she yelled, crying as the man held her hair tight. Kyle stepped forward, shaking from the anger and sorrow of seeing someone treat his daughter like this.
The man looked at Kyle and grinned, "All we really wanted was a bite of food. And some good company," he said as he looked down at Minerva. "She's truly beautiful," he said putting his dirty hand around her jaw to look at her face. Kyle could have said anything but the surprise and horror had rendered him speechless, "Dont hurt her," Kyle begged, but it was to no avail. Men started surrounding him and he knew he couldnt do anything, the man would kill his daughter if he did. Only now he wished that he would have just done that. Kyle was apprehended, a chain was put around his neck and they made him watch. The man with the rotten teeth held her, as the others started beating her, her screams echoing, if Kyle wasnt watching, they'd break his fingers one by one. It took a long time for the screaming to stop, and they let her go to fall down in the cold mud. But she was still alive. They got Kyle back up on his feet, pulling him past her to reveal that the wagon was just a covered by linnen. He looked back at Minerva with teary, his heart was broken. The man walked up next to him, "She doesnt look too pretty now, does she?" he asked Kyle with a mocking grin. "If she'll survive, it wont be for long. Torch the village," the man commanded. "Hope that a wolf finds her before she'll succumb to death. It'll end it quicker," the man said, closing the cage and order them to go ahead. Kyle just stared at her lying there on the ground. "It's a shame she didnt have a mother we could have our fun with, would have loved to make you both watch. But instead we got you,"

He stopped himself, sitting back up as he sniffled, but there were no tears. He hadnt cried since she died, so he wasnt planning on starting. He rubbed his nose and looked down at the ground. "It wasnt the end. They didnt leave her there, not for long. As I was forced into training to become their personal guard dog, I saw her. They had spiked her and put her up for me to see. They forced me to look at her everyday to watch her corpse rot, till it was nothing but a skull, and that made me realize that I wasnt as invincible as I thought. I promised myself that I would love no one like I loved her" he then said, exhaling shakingly. He got up from the bed and walked over to the window, opening it for some fresh air. "And now I've broken that promise," he closed his eyes for a second. "He's stupid. I didnt ask for that promise. I just want him to be happy," Minerva said as she sat down on the bed next to Abigal, looking at Kyle.

The last thing he wanted was to make her cry. He just stared out the window, still caught in the memories, the horrible horrible memories. He closed his eyes for a second as silence filled the room for a moment, oddly in the mix of all the bad feelings he was feeling right now, he found her silence concerning. When she finally spoke, he knew exactly who she was talking for. For some reason it made him feel anger boil inside him, just the thought of his daughter having sat around to listen to the horrible things that had happened. His breath got heavy and slow as it would when someone wanted to cool their anger - Most people got sad in these situations, Kyle got angry. He turned to her when she asked if he wanted to see her. “No. I cant... Why would you even ask me that?” he said bitterly looking her straight in the eyes with anger. It wasnt directly for her, but it sure must have hurt to have him talk like that to her. He clenched his teeth, looking away knowing that him shutting her out like this would only cause her to try and get back. He knew her and how she wanted him to be happy and right now he just couldnt deal with it. He stepped a bit back and shook his head, “I really cant deal with this right now Abigal,” he then said, feeling like he couldnt breathe. The anger however quickly got him to lash out. “Asking me if I want to see my dead daughter...” he mumbled, as he looked at Abigal, “Did you see your kids? Did you hope that seeing them would bring them back, or feel less shitty about them being gone? They may get their peace, but us living dont. My daughter will forever be that rotten skeleton on a spike, looking at me with her hollow eyes!” He then yelled, he had never yelled at her before, not even when he was at his angriest.
Minerva had jumped down from the bed and gone behind Abigal. She grabbed her arms as she pushed herself into her, haunting her body for a short while that definitely wouldnt be very pleasant. “I forgive you, dad” she said through Abigal, making Kyle even angrier, as he looked at Abigal with a betrayed expression “Dont...” he warned. Minerva was persistent, “I forgive you, dad”. His eyes filled with anger and he clenched his fists, “Shut up!” He commanded furiously, but Minerva kept going, Kyle getting angrier and angrier till his eyes turned yellow and he slammed his fist on the table, breaking it as he fell on his knees afterwards. “Stop...” he begged as his anger turned to the sorrow he was repressing, covering half of his face with his free hand. Minerva stepped back out of Abigal and sighed, “Go to him. You make him happy, he’s just dumb right now,” she then said before turning around and started skipping ahead and out of the door to find Abigals sister.

As she approached him, he just fell down on his behind, feeling limp. He was like a rock, still with eyes full of emptiness planted on the floor. The memory became reality once again, Minerva saying over and over that she forgave him gave him a bitter taste in his mouth. Even if she had forgiven him, he still hadnt forgiven himself. He didnt look at Abigal as she sat down next to him and wrapped her arms around him. It gave him a bit of life, lifting his arms to wrap them around her as he burried his face in her chest. He sobbed quietly as she apologized and he wanted to tell her that it was fine, that it was actually good that she confronted him like that, but no words wanted to leave his mouth. So there they sat in silence for quite a while, only Kyle's shaking breath and almost soundless sobs were to be heard.
He closed his eyes, his breathing shook as much as it concealed the small sobs. He pulled himself together and looked up at her, releasing one hand to put on the side of her head. He shifted between her eyes before he lifted himself to kiss her lips, closing his eyes, feeling the connection that followed the kiss. He pulled away after a bit, letting out a soft sigh as he seemed to have calmed down a bit. He looked up at her and got up on his knees as he grabbed her and lifted her up as he got up. He went to the bed and put her down, kissing her lips with such eagerness. Death had reminded him of life, and now he wanted to live in the moment with her. He put his hand on her shoulder, another on one side of her neck as his lips found their way to the other side, kissing it with such tender.

He looked up at her with a bright smile as she told him that she loved him. He let his hand from her shoulder slide up to her cheek as he lifted himself up, making them face eachother. "Okay," he clarified as he kissed her soft lips, to lean back and look her in the eyes, "I love you back," he told her in a low voice. His hand from her neck went down to her robes, pulling it off her shoulders exposing her body underneath. He smiled lightly as he ran his hand down her skin to her stomach to wrap his arm underneath her, removing the space between them.
“I’m yours...” he kissed her collarbone “Now...” he kissed the side of her neck “and always,” he then kissed her lips, so tender, so vulnerable. It was clear that something has changed between them, something good. Kyle bit her lip softly, and used his hand underbeath her to remove the robe completely. It would be a night that he wouldnt ever forget. And he surely knew that his heart was over and done for.
