Gods dream of empires, but devils build them

How long had it been since she had stepped foot at a casino? The memories were still apparent even though they felt like a lifetime away. But rumors had it that she knew the owner of Elysium - very well. With the hope of running into an old friend, the demigoddess had arrived early that night at the gambling empire he had built.
So far, she had had plenty of luck at the table but not even the tiniest of fortuity with the valid reason for her stay.

Kenna laid down a new bet “Fifty on red 23.” Watching as the wheel spun with the white ball trying to catch one of the number slots when something or more specifically someone caught the corner of her eyes. And there he stood, Mr. Turner, in all his glory, making red lips curling into a soft smile.
A high cheer to her left revealed that she had lost the bet, but it didn't matter. Raising from the chair, Kenna slowly made her way to River “What a beautiful place you have made. I must say your taste ages like fine wine, Mr. Turner.” She greeted with a smile soft on her lips.

River could always tell whenever Kailani had a night off, even if the luck still hang around as a thick atmosphere around him, he always did feel it slightly heavy when his people were out. The fact that Kailani had dragged Penelope and Victoria with her as well, River didn't have much to say because luckily Kailani had found some skilled people to replace them for the day. River downed another glass of whisky, before he walked around mostly chatting with people, catching up, observing. He didn't need to be this much out and about, but he had a feeling, a feeling that he should be on the floor tonight. And right he was.

The old vampire looked around as a familiar exquisite scent balanced over his sharp nose, making him turn his head and let his lip curl up into a well known smirk. Then he watched the beautiful demi-god walk closer towards him, "Ms. Lux what a pleasant surprise," he mused leaning in to greet her with a cheek kiss, then stepping back taking her hands and let them a bit to the side, while letting his eyes wonder over her, "and stunning as always," River let go of her hand and gave her a quick spin around with a bright smile, clearly in a good mood now. River then gently let go of her still keeping his eyes on her, "glad to see you could find the way across the street, I would have say I'd expected you, but not today I have to confess, but I am very pleased." There had been a meaning for both their businesses for him to place his casino across the street from her hotel, make more guests come visit him and stay at hers. Simple as that.

Careful not to leave any red residue on his cheek, Kenna returned the greeting etiquette before getting whirled around in a friendly manner. Squeezing his hand kindly before letting it go.
“I'm sorry I didn't come sooner, but you know how it is.” She didn't explain further than that. He knew better than most that they weren't really off the clock even in their spare time. “But the guest has spoken very fondly of their experiences here.” She praised and looked around before returning her gaze to River “Not that it surprises me.” He had always had a flair for business, just like herself.

With a beaming smile, Kenna tilted her head to the side “So are we just going to stand here for an eternity, or shall we cheer for old friendship?” It wasn't every day you got the chance to reunite with an old friend, and the truth to be told, she had missed him.
