Maybe in another lifetime

She had been having a lot on her mind. With everything that had been going on and how she had behaved toward Orion after they hadn’t found Delphine—well, she needed to apologise. Besides, she could really need someone to talk with and with the things that had been going on in Kai’s life, it seemed that her sister might need someone to speak to as well. Maybe it was just a lousy excuse because if Delphine was being honest, she wasn’t sure what to do with herself anymore. She felt like she was slowly slipping away, and after that incident where she had Kai had been kidnapped, it had brought back memories that she had tried to escape from for so long. Maybe she wasn’t ready for all she had begone, and even though she wanted to give Cyrus the world, she was afraid she would just end up hurting him more than she would ever be able to forgive herself for.
Walking inside, the eyes quickly fell on her, not that she noticed tonight; she went to the bar and looked around to see if she could find her sister anywhere. Even though she had tried to get through to her, it was like nothing had really stuck—not that she blamed her, with what had happened with Bast and Acacia, it had to leave an imprint. She just didn’t want her sister to slip away entirely or end up doing something stupid.

One week. Everything still seemed to uncanny to her. Her soul feeling empty and numb, longing for some sense of feeling. It was like Bast had just ripped her heart out of her chest and brought it with him, leaving it completely out of her hands. She wanted to cry, but she couldn't. The only thing that had made her feel just something even if it was just for a bliss of a second it was Elias, but as mentioned, it was only one small kiss, then a thousand words - words there after had turned to dust. Still hollow. Everything seemed meaningless, and it wasn't who she was. Kailani had lived too long to let a heart break crush her spirit, but it wasn't just a simple heart break - because she still loved him. No matter how betrayed she felt or empty, there was still this one little spark - which was possibly the thing that hurt the most.

Kailani turned her head to look over her shoulder watching Delphine step towards the bar where she herself was sitting. Kailani moved her thumb across her lower lip removing a little leftover blood from a snack she had dragged to the pool area not long ago. "Delphine, what a lovely surprise," she let out a smaller sigh, knowing just that Delphine yet again was trying to look out for her. But she didn't need that, not now. "Don't you have other places to be, I can only assume your little boy toy is getting sick and tired of you not giving him any attention, but using it all on me," she lifted her glass up and took a sip. No, she wasn't working tonight, just enjoying herself. Trying to at least. Who knew, maybe Kailani and Orion should make a club.

Kailani could just as well have slapped her across the cheek; the words stung at least as bad as they left her lips. Now, Delphine had been accustomed to many things in her long life, and many of them had come from her own family—The Jinx. Kailani had always been there to support her and understand her. But no matter how much in life she wanted to be with someone that cared for her and loved her despite her abilities, despite always causing problems wherever she went, it had never happened. Mostly because she had stayed clear of it, she had only loved once before, and he had died—was it so weird that she was cautious with Cyrus? And to have her sister, the only person she had ever loved, and the only one she felt loved her truly, say such harsh things to her. It tore her apart.
She wanted to say something, but instead, she sat beside her sister and waved the bartender over; Penelope came bouncing and poured her a red wine and then the strawberry blond-haired woman was off again.
“I’m going to ignore the fact that you just tried to hurt me because you would rather have me leave you alone; it's not going to happen because I love you, okay?” Delphine finally said as she took the glass and took a small sip.

It was far easier to push than open up for the raging ocean that screamed within her. Because she was afraid what would unload with those emotions. Deep down the last thing she wanted to do was hurt Delphine, but her vision was so blurred by the energy she spent on keeping it together that she didn't even think it that far. First as Delphine sat down next to her, which made the older sister take a deeper breath in and close her eyes for a minute, then exhaling as she opened her eyes again. "I - I'm not trying to hurt you okay?" Kailani looked over at her sister, "I just want to be left alone," she added feeling the emotions trying to break free, but she held onto them tight. "But I guess I was the fool actually thinking I was enough on my own," she mumbled a little bit underneath her breath then taking another sip from her glass, the price one could have for having a heart. The peak of emotion she started to feel was rage, rage that made her wanting to make sure Archibald Barnes got out of the game - it couldn't be that hard, now could it? If she wanted something done, she knew she could get it done. Orion had kept her revenge scales balanced, at least for now. "Looks like Orion is back from his little trip," she noticed him coming in, he had been gone for a few days - given everything, she understood.

“Yeah, tough love Princess, not going to happen”, she huffed, closing her eyes “even though words only hurt when you feel an ounce of truth in them”, she whispered, not that she thought that Cyrus was getting annoyed with her, or didn’t feel like she gave him enough of her time. It wasn’t that. But it was the constant fear that one day one of them would wake up and know that they couldn’t be together anymore. Even if he was now immortal like her, it might make it worse for her. Because one day, she would end up breaking his heart, she was sure of it. And it was just the last thing that she wanted to do.
Delphine turned her head and looked in the direction that Orion was coming from; she let out a small sigh. “Well, seems like it’s the time for apologising”, she whispered, not really knowing how to say it to him, and he would actually listen, normally always just telling everyone that it was fine—especially when it really wasn’t.

"Seems so," she took another sip of her drink, not knowing what had been said between the two, after all she herself had been chatting with Acacia while it happened. But all she did know was Orion had ignored Delphine mostly since, only giving her small words to exchange if it had been while Delphine was standing near Kailani. Which was very unlike him, but once asked he would completely deny anything being wrong. Kailani turned her head towards the bartender and made a sign that made two drinks being served, and she handed Orion one of them as he gained in closer. "I will leave you two to talk, catch you later -" she made a small salute as she saw her escape. Orion took a sip of the rum Kailani had ordered him. "Actually I do have something to attend to -- what's wrong?" even if he wanted to be angry at how she had lashed out on him, it wasn't really her fault that her feelings for him didn't match his - and he couldn't help but notice she seemed to be lost in what to think with everything that happened around them.

“But”, she lifted her hand as Kai decided that she would rather be elsewhere than sit here and listen to her trying to apologise. She pulled back her lips, and a sharp breath was pushed against her clenched teeth. “What?” she turned as Orion told her that he had something to attend to, her eyes blinked, and she could feel the pain spread in her chest.
What was wrong? Would it be too much if she said everything? Maybe not, because it was the truth. It was like she couldn’t navigate in her own mind anymore, not see what it was that she wanted out of life, and she was just stuck in a limbo of her own created hell. Not that she had anything to complain about, she knew that. She had a roof over her head and a good career, and she would never be in a situation where money was a problem. But still, she felt so incredibly lonely, even when she was surrounded by people.
“I just wanted to apologise that I lashed out at you,” she said with a small smile, not wanting to put more on his already heavy loaded shoulders. “I’ll be all right; go if you have somewhere you need to be”, she assured him, turning in her seat and looking straight ahead as she started to nurse her drink.

He didn't have something else to look into, or he had; Orion always had something to do, but nothing that couldn't wait. And despite her having hurt his feelings slightly, he should know better than to let them control the outcome of this conversation. So, he took a sharper breath in and watched how she started nursing her drink, not able to hold heart on leaving her sitting like that, he just sat himself down next to her. "Why did you lash out at me?" He knew of course why. Her sister had been taken, and no one expect for Kailani really seemed to know what had been going on between her and the dark fairy, but it was safe to say it wasn't only Bast's true colors coming to surface that had affected the siren. Orion kept his eyes on Delphine and waved his hand to get another drink served and took a sip once it got delivered.
