I thought I would never see you again

Dean hadn’t heard a word from Love ever since she’d left a note on the dining table, telling him that she didn’t want to put him or anyone in danger anymore. Least to say, he had been worried sick about her, wondering how far she'd made it and wether she was someplace safe. It wasn’t until he was walking home from work that he caught her scent. At first he just stopped, thinking that perhaps it was nothing, but he’d never forget that scent, so he turned around a corner to follow it towards Southside. It seemed to stop in an alley with a water tank, making him look around at the sorrounding buildings, about to go inside one of them before he saw someone place a hand against the inside of the glass tank. His heartrate increased as he realized that it was her. He tried to punch the lock that was keeping the top of the tank in place until his fists started to bleed, and when it finally started to break he forced it open, took off his jacket and jumped inside of the cold water. He quickly wrapped his arms around her body, carrying her out of the water before he gently placed her on the ground. “Love?! Can you hear me?” he called out, looking at her with a worried expression as he felt her wrist for her pulse and checked that she was still breathing. “Please, I'm begging you... wake up,” he pleaded, keeping his hand on her arm to try and take her pain, however he couldn’t tell if it worked as she was was unconscious, so he picked up his phone to call 911. There was a waiting queue so he placed it on the ground and started to perform CPR.

Dean stopped the CPR as she gasped for air, inhaling a deep breath himself as he tried to calm his heartbeat. “Thank God,” he said, grateful for the fact that she'd survived. He hung up the phone as she got rid of the water in her lungs, before he grabbed her hand. He sent her a brief smile as she called his name, and although she seemed disorientated, he assumed that it was a good sign. “I’m right here,” he answered, giving her hand a squeeze as he looked at her face. He hadn't expected her to sit up and hug him, but when she did, he wrapped his arms around her. It seemed like a one in a million chance of him finding her, saving her from one of the worst things imaginable.
He exhaled a sharp breath as she asked how he found her, not daring to think of what would’ve happened if he hadn’t. “I caught your scent walking home from work,” he explained, and although he wanted to know what had happened or why she was here, he didn’t want to overwhelm her with questions. He slowly let go of her to look into her eyes. “How are you feeling?” he asked with a worried expression. He felt how cold she was, but otherwise he couldn't tell if she'd been hurt prior to this or if she needed to go to a hospital.

He looked into her eyes with an everlasting compassion as she said she was cold and hurt, truly grateful for the fact that he found her in time. “It’s going to be okay,” he assured her, gently grabbing her hand to give it a squeeze before he stood up from the ground to pick up his dry jacket that he placed around her shoulders for some warmth. “How long did it take before they found you?” he asked as he kneeled beside of her again. He didn’t blame her for running away, especially not after the incident with the two men, but he wished that she’d told him about her plan so he could’ve helped her escape. He couldn’t help but feel incensed at person who'd hurt her, so he hoped that she’d gotten away for a long time before they caught up to her. He closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath in as he anticipated her answer, before he exhaled and opened his eyes again, looking up at the wall of the abandoned building in front of him. “Let’s get out of here,” he then said before he lifted her up in his arms, holding her close to him as he walked away from the abandoned building and down an alleyway. He could only assume that her enemies were close and that they might return, so it seemed like the best idea to go somewhere else. He stopped by the restaurant that he worked at, unlocking the back door with his key before he opened it, turned on the light and closed the door behind him. He then walked upstairs to a lounge area with a bar where they had a few sofas and tables, before he placed her down on a sofa. It was still fairly warm inside of the building, “We should be safe here,” he said, looking at her through the dim lightning. “I understand if you don’t want to talk about what happened, but just know that I’m here if you ever need to talk,” he said before he sat down on a chair next to her and took off his white t-shirt as it was soaking wet, then he looked at his hands as they were stained with blood from the punches to the lock. He sighed as he looked back at her, thinking that she'd always be in danger as long as that man was alive.
