Baby it's cold outside

Danica was clearly not glad that Diego was interfering, but he definitely wasn’t going to let Danica take the blame. None of this was her fault. Diego didn’t even budge when the officer told him to step aside. He wasn’t done with convincing the policemen that this was an unfair treatment of the case – but Sophia barged in. He looked towards her as she spoke. It warmed his heart a little. He was satisfied that the officer seemed to be interested in another deal.

It eased Diego’s heart that Sophia was this great at convincing the officers about the truth and even to release Danica. Now, it wasn’t that bad that he had met her again.
Shortly after, the officers made sure to go and check at the Martins. He allowed them to check the whole house, as long as they figured out what had happened. He nodded very seriously to the officer as he said he would be back if something didn’t add up. When the officers left,  Diego grabbed his forehead in a sigh. He looked towards Sophia as she told them they could see Derek. He was excited to see his son again, and almost couldn’t wait to get into the room where he was. As soon as they got into the room, he passed Sophia quite quickly and jogged to his son to pull him into an embrace. “Hey, my boy,” he whispered and caressed him. His voice was teared up, and if the ladies were lucky, they could peek that a couple of tears were running down from the dark eyes. He kisses Derek a couple of times on the side of the head before he grabbed both of his son’s shoulders and looked at him. He ran a hand through the boy’s hair, before Diego looked towards Danica and gestured her to come closer, or even sit. The little boy playfully growled to imitate the bear he liked so much and had heard Danica sound like once or twice before.

Sophia respectfully stepped aside to let Diego walk over towards his boy, and a sad yet soft smile formed on her lips as she let out a small sigh. Her eyes glided towards the woman, that had been so hellbent making sure that nothing of this would affect Diego and his relationship to his son. It was rather emendable, if it wasn’t a little foolish. Because Sophia was afraid that it would end bad either way. She let out a small sigh as her pager went off. “I need to go, but I’ll be back to check on him later” she said with a gentle smile on her lips on her lips, before she stepped out of the room and walked down the hall to another patient of hers that needed a checkup.

Danica let out a small exhale, feeling how her shoulders were still very tense from everything that had happened. But turned towards Diego and saw how he gestured her to come closer to him. She walked over to the bed and looked down at Derek with adoring eyes, taking his hand and giving it a small squeeze growling back as the bear Derek had come to love so much. After a while she walked over on the other side where Diego was sitting and put her hand on his shoulder. She really didn’t want to do this, because she was already dreading the consequences. “You should call Julianne” she said with a low voice and sat down, taking Diego’s hand giving it a small squeeze.

Diego did hear that Sophia had to leave, but he didn’t say anything to it. As of right now, he was too occupied with reconnecting with his son. For a moment, he had been so scared that he would lose any right to see his little boy. He caressed Derek over his hair.
He wasn’t going to say anything to the small bear growling his son and Danica had. It only made Diego know that Danica also had made some effect on his son. He liked that. He would like for her to be a part of his life and actually hoped somewhere that she would at some point be fit to be a stepmother to him. Diego looked up at Danica as she placed her hand on his shoulder. “Yes, you’re right,” he said before he looked back at his son. He caressed him once more and gave him a kiss on the forehead before he turned towards Danica and gave her a quick kiss on the temple before he got up. “Keep an eye on the little monster, would you?” he said before he pulled up his phone and started dialing Julianne.

“Hey Jules. Can you come to the hospital in Aston? I'll tell you more when you're here, but don't rush, okay?” he spoke, pacing a little around on the hallway in the hospital.

She had just put Annika down for a nap, finally, it had taken a while. So, sitting by herself on the sofa getting a warm cup of coffee was well deserved. She leaned her head back, just about to reach for the cup when the phone next to the cup rang with Diego's number. Julianne frowned a little bit, and folded her lips a little, had she forgotten something perhaps? She reached out for the phone and took the call. "Hey -" she barely got to ask before he asked if she could come to the local hospital - for what she wondered shortly? Then it hit her, "is Derek okay?" She asked in a low mumble. There was no other reason why he would ask her to come to the hospital were there? Right now, in this second, she didn't need for him to tell her that he would explain everything, she just needed to be confirmed if he was alright or not, if this was about him or not. Yes, then he could explain. He had to explain once she got there. Julianne got up from her seat, poor coffee she didn't even get to drink. She walked towards the small home office she had, and took her work phone to call the woman she had to take care of Annika whenever Jules were out and about. "I will be there in a few minutes, I just need for Madison to get here, and then I will come," she sighed a little bit, already feeling the stress giving her a headache.

Once Madison got there, Julianne took the car and drove towards the hospital, not really sure what to expect.

“You got it” Danica hummed with a soft smile, before turning towards Derek. It was hard not to show the storm that was brewing in her stomach. How much of this affected her. But if there was one thing she had learned as a mother. Then it was putting your own feelings aside for them. Because, you didn’t have the privilege to not be strong when it came to them. If you weren’t ready to stand up and fight every day for them, to ensure they were as happy and content. You didn’t deserve children. Just like she would run if her children ever called and told her they needed her. Even if they were in their thirties now.

She was showing her variety of animal sounds she could make, to Derek’s amusement that seemed like he didn’t even understand what he was doing here. Besides it being a fun experience. At least it was that, and not something that scared him half to death and just added to the trauma. Luckily, he was young, and most of this wouldn’t be a problem, if it was just a question of making this as a positive experience for him here on out.

Diego smiled caringly as Danica said she had got it and he could leave them for a moment while he made the call. Julianne was quick to know that it was Derek who had gotten to the hospital and not just Diego. “Yeah, he’s okay,” he said quite relaxed and glanced back into the room he had just exited. He smiled heart warm as he saw how she entertained his son. He exhaled slowly as Julianne explained that she would be there in a few minutes. “Alright, but take it easy, okay? You don’t have to rush,” he told her. Shortly after they hung up and he could go back to Danica and Derek. He gave Danica a caring long kiss on her temple, taking in her scent before he turned his attention to his son, running a hand through his hair, messing it a bit before he started to tickle him. It was purely nice for Diego that this experience seemed to be more good than bad.

He was okay. She tried to remind herself of that as she drove perhaps faster than the speed limit than she should, but then again - telling a mother not to rush when her child was at the hospital, it was very unlikely she would take anything easy. Julianne could feel a hint of frustration poke her, because he hadn't called her the second something had happened, but had waited till he was okay. Now, Jules were very aware that she had signed off her rights a long time ago by now, but she had thought now that at least she had allowed him to know what happened with Annika, that he would have returned the favor. There was almost no parking spaces left, what was up with that?

An annoyed groan left her till she almost seven minutes after getting there had found a place to park her stupid car. Julianne finally entered the hospital towards the pediatric department and saw the huge que of people talking to the nurses, like hell she was going to wait for that, so she just moved towards some of the doctors and nurses, asking where Derek Gonzáles whereabouts were. She could feel how her heart was beginning to speed up with frustration, rushing her hand through her unbrushed hair. She hadn't been here since the day Quentin had died, or since she had found out he had died. Julianne hated it here, she felt trapped in the crowd of people moving around so quickly.

Danica looked up towards Diego as he placed a soft kiss towards her temple. She closed her eyes letting the feel form in her heart, the love that she felt for him. And therefore, also for his son. The regret that harboured still. Because she had been the one to put him in danger. No one could ever convince her otherwise. She should have been careful since it wasn’t her home, she had let Lauren into. She hated the fact that she had just let Lauren deal with all of this herself. She wanted to call, tell her what was going to happen. But the racing thoughts wouldn’t let her do it. So, she just sat there, and saw how Diego was handling everything with his son.

Theo was at the hospital because he had been helping a fellow hunter. Stupid idiot had gotten himself beaten up real bad by a werewolf. It was like the whole area was overflowing with supernatural creatures. Even the humans were starting to talk nonsense. He would have taken him out of town to another hospital, but because it had been so bad, he had been forced to settle for the one where most of the doctors and nurses were supernatural. How people could put their trust in their expertise. He had seen a fallen angel walk around, saw that she was a part of the paediatric wing. That couldn’t be right, who on earth would be stupid enough to place their hands in a fallen angel’s hands? Not that he was stupid enough to take her out here. That would be a plan for a later hunt. Shouldn’t be all that difficult. That was when he heard a voice he recognised, asking for a person he didn’t know. Diego. Funny, he had called himself that for a couple of years. Reminded him of Danica. “Julianne?” he spoke softly, with a warm smile on his lips. “Hey, hey it’s okay” he said as he placed a hand on her shoulder. It had always been weird to him that they had decided she was the one that should have married Nigel. He had always thought he would have been a much better match, especially since he had shared the same ability as Quentin. “Who do you need to find?” he asked, saw how the fallen angel came over to them with worried look. “Julianne D’avalos?” she asked nodding as she got the confirmation. “Come with me, I’ll take you to your son, everything is fine, and the recovery is going better than expected, he will be released later today” she added before she led them the room. “I’ll come back later” she added, Theo had followed along to give some moral support to Jules. Even though he had been quite surprised by the fact that she was a mother. How much had he missed over the last couple of years? That was when he could feel the three auras on the other side. To betas and a hybrid.

Danica widened her eyes and got up from her seat. Now it wasn’t Jules that had her acting like that. But the smell of a man that had broken her heart worse than anyone else. And as it opened, she couldn’t but just stare as he stood outside the door. Clearly, he knew Jules, but how the hell? What was he even doing here? But for now, she just stood there, and said nothing. Even as he gave her a soft smirk. “I’ll just wait outside here Jules, let me know if you need anything” he winked at Danica before he let the door close. Letting Danica breathe for a moment while letting the whole thing sink in.

Diego didn’t really pay attention to who was walking around outside, besides the fact that he could recognize that Julianne was on her way. He simply kept his attention at Derek to make sure that he was getting the best experience out of it. So, when the door opened, and Julianne’s smell was accompanied by another, he looked up from his son and noticed how the guy who held the door looked at Danica. He had picked up on Danica being a little nervous and it quickly made Diego’s blood boil. What had that man done to her? His attention turned to Julianne as she entered. “He’s doing all okay,” he said softly. Diego had called Julianne as soon as he could. He hadn’t wanted to call Julianne too soon, and not known how this would be affecting her. But to him, it was just important that Derek was alright.

Julianne? She turned around trying to find the person who had spoken her name, but it wasn't before she gained eye contact with Theo as he placed a hand on her shoulder, that she could actually breath. "Hey," she exhaled giving him a small exhausted smile. Who did she need to find, was sit safe to tell that she had a child with a beta werewolf? Hell, she knew it was irresponsible of her, the main reason it had been the best kept secret. Julianne was just about to reply when her name was said again, making her turn towards the fallen angel. Julianne blinked a little bit, still not fond of the fact that so many supernatural creatures roamed at this place. She had gotten used to the werewolves because of Diego back then, and she had tried, she was trying to become less judgmental about other species as well, but it was really just one step at the time. Julianne didn't really think about it then, only one goal to see with her own two eyes that Derek was alright. Yet, her arm grabbed Theo's as she walked with the fallen angel. In all this sanity, there was at least one person that she knew. And by now, she felt like she didn't know a lot. Looking inside she could see both Diego, Danica and Derek, her eyes mainly stuck on Derek - till Theo spoke again, looking towards him giving his arm a little squeeze before letting go. "Thank you, I appreciate it," she lifted his hand up to his cheek, letting her thumb caress it shortly before letting go of him and walked into the room.

Jules licked her lips a little bit, holding back her frustration as she reached her son, sitting down by his bed side, leaning over to place a soft kiss on top of his head. "Hey you, how did you end up here?" Julianne asked softly. Even if Diego said he was all right. She wanted to know what had happened. She looked slowly up, "chill, he is a friend of mine." She noticed how Danica had looked towards Theo. Well, Theo was a hunter just like she was - so a friend was perhaps not that settling. Then she looked towards Derek again, "how about you get some rest - we will be right here with you," she ran her hand over Derek's hair before looking towards Danica and Diego it was very clear she wanted an explanation to what had happened - but no way she was going to argue with them or ask them in front of Derek, she knew better than that.

Now there were two voices in Theo’s head. The one telling him to run. Get out of there while he could. If anything, he could call Julianne later and ask her how she was doing. Giving a little white lie about the fact that his friend had needed him, and he couldn’t stick around. Now, the other one, was telling him to take advantage of the situation. Julianne had and would always be one of best hunters there was out there. Especially with how she had trained with her twin brother. There was no lying about it. If he played this right, he could turn Julienne back on the right side of things. That was when he decided to stick around outside. Because how things looked in there, it wouldn’t take any one very long to figure out it was a messy situation. Which meant he could stick around a good childhood friend, and make sure that there was someone in Jules corner to make sure that she was alright.

Danica on the other hand, couldn’t tear her eyes from the closed door, because she could smell he stayed. Which made her nervous. Even more so, when Jules noticed and told her to chill. Slowly she turned her gaze towards the blond human, very close to snarl at her. Her wolf wanting nothing more to just barge out the door and tear Theo’s throat out. And hadn’t it been for Diego’s aura, calming her, even if he wasn’t her beta. He was still her mate. In more ways than one. Her eyes flickered, and for a moment she was about to say she would stay with Derek. Meaning Diego and Jules could speak under four eyes. But she could almost feel in the air it wasn’t up to her, so she walked out of the room.

Theo smiled towards all of them and nodded as a small greeting. “Theobald Blanchard, a childhood friend of Jules” he reached out his hand to shake Diego’s, already guessing he wouldn’t take it. Before turning towards Danica. That clearly was surprised by his name. For a moment she almost thought it was a mistake that she thought it would be him. But the smell, there was no doubt about it was Diego. “Maybe I should reintroduce myself to you aswell, since I’m not really Diego Lopez” he winked at her, and then taking a step back. Placing a hand on Jules’s shoulder turning his head away from the others against her ear “If you need, me just call me, I’ll won’t meddle in family business, but I’ll be just over there” he added. Danica’s heart was beating miles pr second in her chest. It had all been a lie? Everything? And he just said it like it was a giant joke. She had left Clay for him; she had left her children behind. To start a new life. Because, she had believed that had been expected of her. And he, just took it as a joke? She stepped forward, grabbing Theo’s arm and pulled him along so she could talk with him. Because, clearly he had some explaining to do.

Diego took in how Julianne was around Derek, and immediately noticed how she didn’t want to talk about everything in front of him. She wanted to argue, and it left Diego wondering why she was mad. He had been too worried about everything to call her earlier and had only really called her when everything had been settled enough to make him be able to think about something else. When Julianne said that the man was a friend of hers, he couldn’t help but to direct his thoughts towards the man being a hunter. With the two ladies, he followed them outside, so they could speak without trouble.

As the man introduced himself, Diego was absolutely sure that the man was a hunter – and not a kind one. It was simply just the air around them that told him that. He didn’t take the man’s hand but simply gave it a quick glare. A hint of disgust could be seen on his face if one knew his facial expressions. As Theobald then turned to introduce himself to Danica, he caught onto the fact that he mentioned that his name wasn’t Diego Lopez. He remembered how she had been talking about someone who had been called Diego who had left her by the altar and simply texted her that she wouldn’t be coming to their wedding. He was getting furious with this man, especially how he looked at Danica. He could almost feel how Danica was hurting, and he understood very much why. Lousy pig.
Luckily the man seemed to be leaving the family business, until he picked up how Danica was about to reach for Theobald. Diego went to grab Danica’s arm and hold her from going anywhere. “Don’t,” he whispered sternly at her, keeping more an eye on her than the hunter. They could talk to him later, somewhere more private. They had just gotten out of the hands of the police, and there was no reason to give them another reason to get arrested.

She didn't like the way that Danica looked towards the door, which was also the reason why she got up to follow Danica outside where Theo introduced himself to Diego who followed her. Julianne looked shortly over to Diego who didn't take the hand, then he introduced himself to Danica. Well, it wouldn't be the first mission if it was a mission where you tried to flirt yourself into the life of someone supernatural. So, she didn't judge because she didn't know the situation or who so the story went. Then he turned to Julianne again, making he nod a little bit, letting him know she understood. Then as he took a step back, Danica grabbed his arm pulling him closer, she kept her eyes on the hybrid. Hearing Diego's low don't, to Danica. But Julianne who was already moody, had lack of sleep, now had a sick child and was over all just in a terrible place of mind, had really no chill left when someone just grabbed someone she cared about, so she placed her hand on Danica's wrist. "You heard him - hands off," Julianne kept her eyes on Danica, not moving them towards Diego, because right now it was Danica who had her hand on Theo - and once she let go of it - she would let go as well.

Not only did Diego grab her arm and forced her not to move. Julianne thought she had the authority to do so as well. She only, and just only, allowed Diego to pull her back letting her loosen the grip around Diego, no Theobald’s arm. The smirk on the male human’s lips didn’t help how her anger flared up, enough for him to just throw herself straight onto him. Her hand grabbed around Diego’s and pushed it off. No one should touch her right now, or she wouldn’t be able to hold back her actions against them. Theo’s smile became only slightly more sinister, as he forced on shutting down Danica’s sense of smell and taste. It might didn’t seem like much, he had discovered that shutting those senses down in a werewolf, was more than enough to confuse them long enough to get the upper hand. And he just didn’t like to be grabbed like that, so she had it coming. He turned his eyes towards Jules and gave a little nod. “Be careful” he mumbled, “She knows about the Lelantos” he then walked away, letting the little family talk things out. Danica’s senses that had been taken away from her, returned as he disappeared into the waiting room, sitting down reading some newspaper. Just waiting for the drama to unfold.  

Danica’s heart, if it could, beat even faster than before. Lelantos, were the family that had killed her family. Cold bloodily on the night that her mother had given birth to her. Why did that matter when connected to Julianne. No. It took every restrain she had in her body, as her eyes locked on Jules. Almost wishing she would just give her a reason, one reason to be able to take it out on her. She had already crossed the line when thinking she could grab her like that and tell her to get hands off. Especially when it came to the man that had broken her heart, had left her, and hadn’t cared when their daughter had died.

Diego didn’t appreciate how Julianne interfered and also grabbed onto Danica. He would be enough, and he had to fight the urge to growl at Julianne for doing so. Danica seemed to back down for now, and he let completely go of her as she pushed him off her, though he wouldn’t hesitate to stop her again. He wasn’t going to have trouble in the middle of the hospital. He couldn’t risk losing Derek, just because Danica got into a fight in the hospital.
Even though Theobald was mumbling, he heard clearly what spilled from the mans lips. He didn’t know anything about Lelantos, but the way he said it, he was quite sure it was a kind of cover name for hunters. He wasn’t sure exactly what it meant, but he kept alert on it. “Danica, calm yourself down,” he whispered to her, being able to hear her heartbeat. What was up with her? He didn’t like how this was going.

She knew. Well how much did she know. Julianne narrowed her eyes a little bit, not looking at Theo as he walked away, it was a warning. Be careful. What did Danica know? Was she coming for them? Was she just getting close to her to have some sort of advantage emotionally to make sure Diego wouldn't cross her in getting what she wanted. It took no fool to know that her family had taken something from her, to be honest, Julianne had seen that same look in many others before, because she had taken lives before, made children orphans, killed spouses, ruined families. After having met Diego she had tried to turn down another path, she had tried. Like she had tried to be better when she had been forced to move back. And despite Quentin being mad at her, even then, she had tried to turn her fate into something better. But if Danica was coming for Julianne's family? Not a chance. Not Elenora, Griffin or Frederik deserved another target on their backs, her own children didn't deserve it. So, as Diego tried to calm Danica down, a smirk lifted on the corner of Julianne's smile. "Maybe you should just go home, you have no place here either way," she replied with a calmer tone, yet the way her brow raised just slightly indicated nothing but trouble.

Now, she didn’t apricate the fact that Diego kept telling her what not to do. He had no idea what this meant to her, neither did Jules. What Theo had done to her and was still doing to her. Because the trauma he had left, was hindering her to this day. So how the hell was she supposed to calm down. Luckily for Diego, Julianne ended up saying something that did just that. Calmed her completely down, almost to a level of unnerving composure. A anything but warm laughter left Danica. “I have no place being here?” she asked, with a crocket smile turning towards Julianne after having looked at Diego. It was amazing how the wolf roared in her, almost like a lioness that stepped in front of her king. “That is rich coming from a woman that left her son behind, because she couldn’t give up a part of her life to be with him, comes waltzing in with a daughter on her arm, that she told the father nothing about, and then expects to be let in with no questions?” she licked her lips and walked a little closer towards Julianne. “How can you stand there, telling me that I have no business being here, when you would always choose your hunter family and humans over your own son, just because he was born a beta werewolf” she hissed. She didn’t think for a moment that this woman, would actually protect her boy if it came down to it. How could she, after her brother had done so much damage and she could still take the sides of a hunter, that Theobald clearly was, without knowing the truth story. He had even given her clues about what had went down with telling that Danica had known him under completely different name. And if she was so quick to gather how Danica knew the name Lelantos. She would also be able to draw the connection between the two names, Diego.

Now, he could see that it pissed Danica off that he tried to keep her in check – but how could he do anything else. He wasn’t going to lose his son. He heard Julianne comment in the background, and it made Diego loose any restrains on Danica, and turn his attention to Julianne, turning all the way to look at her. “What did you say?” he whispered at the same time as Danica made her first comment. He clearly offended on Danica’s behalf, but also his own. How could Julianne even say that? Yes, Julianne had carried and birthed Derek, but she had never been fully a part of Derek’s life, and it was almost sad, that Diego believed that Danica was more of a mother to Derek than Julianne had ever been. He didn’t pull Danica back or told her to step of her pedestal. No, because Julianne had to know what she had just poured gasoline over a dying fire. If you play with fire, you will get burned. He had experienced that firsthand so many years ago. Every word Danica spilled was almost appealing to Diego. “I think, that if there’s anyone who should go home, it would be you,” he said, directed to Julianne. He had noticed the look in her eye. He had wanted Julianne to see her son and get to know what had happened, but if Julianne was only going to pick at them and try and cause trouble, well, then she probably didn’t deserve to know. Julianne should’ve been more focused on her son who was still in the hospital bed.

Julianne raised her brows and chuckled a bit dry, listening to Danica. "Oh please," she took a smaller step forward, then looking towards Diego as he spoke, making her chuckle a little bit. Maybe she had lost her mind after she lost Quentin, who would have thought? Well, no one asked. They had just assumed, because Julianne didn't mind playing her part, pretending to be the sane one - it was stupid to grieve a chaotic boy like Quentin, and yet, she knew him better than anyone else. "You have no idea what you are talking about," she whispered looking back at Danica. Now, it wasn't true, and Julianne knew why she had done the things she had done. Like Griffin had told her, she had done the right thing, even Frederik had told her so, and she trusted their judgement more than Danica, because Danica could never understand the concept or pressure they went through as hunters. "But fine, I will go. Because I can't stand the sight of your nasty little princess here either way," she didn't take her eyes off Danica as she stepped back holding her hands up. Perhaps it was for the best, she had gotten to close to what she had tried to protect from her world. "Theo, we are leaving," she called for him, taking a few further steps back. Of course she would find out what had gone down here today, even if she couldn't get him to tell her, and it was selfish to leave - she hated a broken promise, but also knew - she couldn't stand the sight of someone who might just be out for her family. And Diego brainwashed by the hybrid, it didn't help a thing. She could do nothing from here. But she would find out what had went on, no matter what ressources she had to use. The problem with suffering silence, no one head the second you hit the ground - and no one expected you to snap.

It was hard to contain yourself when things were going this well. It was actually going much better than he had believed it would go. It wasn’t about just killing the supernatural, as much as starting to tear them apart and make them start fighting against each other. He needed Jules in his corner to do this, and the faster she would leave that child of hers, that was born beta. The better. It might be a cruel thought, but a hunter had no business in getting children with the supernatural’s. At least not with the stronger ones, where you would end up having to kill them. Even that they in his family had ended up mixing the bloods of a shapeshifter. Only because of the powers that she had been able to pass on. It had been wrong, just look at the disappointment Jamie.

Danica just gave Jules a stoic look. She wasn’t intimidated by this human anymore. If you wanted to leave a child to protect it, you stayed away from good. But if you kept coming back, it wasn’t to protect them, it was because you were weak and didn’t stand by your choices. She had left, and now she wanted in, after she had ambushed Diego with another child, he had known nothing about. She was sad to think that this might end up meaning he wouldn’t be able to see Annika anymore. But this was unforgivable behaviour. Her hand was quickly placed against Diego’s chest as Jules found it necessary to throw the comment about Danica being nasty in their heads. Not that Danica took her eyes off Jules as she called Theo that quickly walked out of the waiting room. Winking at Danica. Then he was quick to place an arm around Jules shoulders and pulled her into his side. “It’s going to be okay” he whispered and placed a soft kiss against her temple as he escorted her out of the hospital. His ‘friend’ could wait, if he wanted to get into Jules good gracious, it had to be done now while she was still vulnerable.

Julianne didn’t take it and it seemed like it was only Diego who really made her leave. He was just about to step forward as Julianne threw shit at Danica, telling him that she was a nasty princess. But he didn’t go far before he felt Danica’s hand on his chest and he stopped. He should take his own advise and calm the fuck down. He noticed how the other hunter exited the waiting room and snaked his arms around Jules. He could almost taste the toxicity and how Julianne was a lost cause by now. Diego let his hands merge with Danica’s and pulled her closer. Almost like Theobald had done, he wrapped an arm around her and kissed the side of her forehead in appreciation. “We should figure out when Derek can come home,” he spoke softly. “I bet you’re hungry too,” he spoke caringly.

She didn’t let her eyes waver from Theo and Jules as the excited the building. It was lucky it had gone down as it had done, because the last thing they needed was more fights in the hospital. She only let out a breath, when she felt Diego pulling her into a half hug and placed his warm lips against her temple. Closing her eyes, she enjoyed herself for a moment. Feeling how close he was to her. Just happy he had taken her side, what a mess it would have been if he had ended up throwing her out, after Jules more or less had asked her to leave. Nodding a little when he said that they should figure out when Derek could be released. “Starving actually” she mumbled, but she could wait a few more hours before she needed to eat. “Diego?” she whispered, getting out of his hug. “You might need to start preparing for what Jules are going to do, when she finds out why Derek was admitted” she let out a deep exhale. And with that she meant finding a good lawyer. Someone that could make sure she didn’t suddenly decided to fight to get Derek back in her arms. Knowing that most cases they would favor the mother.

Diego smiled softly at her as she admitted that she was starving. He understood very much why. The hours had gone like the wind from when he had told them to leave for the hospital. He hummed a question mark as she said his name and looked at her as she pulled out of his embrace.  “Yes,” he exhaled and looked over his shoulder in the direction the two hunters had gone in. “He would be killed in her hands,” he exhaled, and knew that he would have to find a good lawyer in order to keep his son. It would make sure that Derek would stay alive, because he was certain that things were going to go the wrong way with Jules in the hand of Theobald. “Would you mind keeping an eye on Derek while I find Sophia?” he wondered with a gentle expression. He simply wanted to get out of here. He wanted to turn his bathroom upside down to make sure nothing in there would be dangerous, because God, this had been a rollercoaster and he sure wasn’t going to come back with Derek for the same reason as today. But of course, with Lauren taken away, it would get a whole lot easier.

Danica let out a soft sigh, she wanted to agree. But one should never underestimate the power of a mothers would do keep her children safe. At least most of the time, that was what a mother wanted to. But that Jules just walked away, didn’t give the best impression that she actually knew what this would do. Now she was just afraid what would happen to Annika, because even though she was human. If anyone found out that she was Diego’s kid?

His voice gently pulled her out of her spiraling thoughts when he asked if she would mind keeping an eye on Derek while he found Sophia. “Of course, not” she said with a bright smile, leaning up placing a soft kiss against his cheek. She had to hope that everything would turn out for the best. Even though she also had to check up on Lauren, and then she was very determinant to keep the promise, about being there for Taylor. Poor girl. She let out a soft sigh, as she walked into the room where Derek was looking at her with a big smile. “Hey big guy” she laughed and could almost see how he looked disappointed that it was only her. Not that Danica took it personal, she would be too, if she had been in Derek’s shoes. “How about we see if there is something we can read while we wait on your father, hm?” she asked, looking at the small shelve found a children’s book that didn’t look to boring and walked over. Diego sighed, slightly relieved when Danica placed a kiss on his cheek. He let her disappear into the room and only a moment later, he started to move around in the pediatric area looking for Sophia. When he finally seemed to find her, she seemed a little busy. He waited what he felt like was forever before he allowed himself to interrupt. “Excuse me, S- Doctor Winnick?” he said and waited for her to be able to give him the attention he needed for him to express his question. “I was wondering when Derek will be well enough to go home?” he asked, clearly a little nervous that Derek might have to be there for more than an hour. He simply wished for them to go home.
