You're either on my side, or you're in my way

Things had gone almost after plan when she had visited her former husband. She had gotten the signature she had wished for, and she was certain that he wasn’t going to harm any woman ever – except for the fact that his almost-mate almost died. Florence never wanted to harm anyone who didn’t deserve it, and from what she had figured, this woman didn’t deserve any harm. But Oliver and River.

Now that Oliver was scared and scarred for his life, with the memories of that night, it was the next one in line. River Turner. Fucking bastard of a vampire. Florence was almost sure, that everything was his fault. Him and his ability to provoke desires. But there was only one thing Florence truly desired, and that was River promising never to do anything like he and Oliver had done to her ever again.
Without a specific plan, she had gone to the casino he had opened, and hoped to find him somewhere, so she could talk to him, preferably in public.
So, like the Siren she was, she stepped inside the casino, looking exceptionally beautiful in her golden dress. Her dark brown eyes glanced over the guests. She was unsure whether she wanted to have a good time first or try and head directly for the goal and get everything over with. The indecisive trail of thoughts stopped as soon as she saw River. Her eyes narrowed and she immediately started to approach, without truly knowing what she would say when she got to her destination. After all, things had gone way too smoothly by Oliver’s place. “Turner,” she called, with an almost friendly voice before she noticed her little sister.

River hadn't met in yet, and even when he did it was rather rare he made it till happy hour, liking getting the money in, but didn't need to be in the public eye for too many hours  - keeping himself mysterious as he called it. She knew Bast and Lucille were out and about as well, most likely keeping River out of his dramatic ways of doing things while investing in other things. Orion was in the crowd with the guests, making sure everything went smoothly. Then there was Kailani herself, standing in the bar looking around the guests, letting small sparks of luck shift between the house and the guests, now they kept these places going. Then a new or not knew face showed up - looking for River. Kailani raised her brow a little bit at her older sister. "Flo, what a pleasure," she  spoke with a warm voice along with a somewhat natural expression on her face. Kailani hadn't really been close to her siblings for over a thousand years, she had lived with River, Lucille and Orion for most of that time, then Bast game along so she stayed even longer. "River is not here," she licked her lips a little bit fetching her sister a glass of a finer wine and placed it on the counter. "What brings you to these parts?" Kailani wondered and tilted her head a little bit. Now, perhaps this was the last place you expected to see Kailani as well, having spent so much time in Russia after Italy where they last had met. What a chaotic night. The mix of River's ability with Dion's natural charm and a spark of Kailani's luck, it had been down for trouble, and sadly her sister had been caught in that spell.

Florence looked towards the bar as her name was spoken. There, her little sister standing there in a golden dress, just like herself. Lucky for both of them, they had different designs. She sent her sister a bitter smile before she approached the bar. She hadn’t seen Kailani for many years. The dark brown eyes blinked rapidly as her sister mentioned that River wasn’t even at the casino. She had arrived for a false bait. Her shoulders lowered and she looked out into the room, trying to see if she was lying, or if someone else was attending the casino. A glass of wine was put in front of her, and she looked back at her sister as she grabbed the glass. “Courage to face my demons,” she replied before she took a sip of the wine. “I’ve gotten the divorce I should’ve gotten many years ago,” she said, not mentioning the fact that she had been making sure Oliver wouldn’t try for something similar again. She looked her sister up and down. Worried some might even catch on to. “They are treating you alright?” she wondered with almost a little sad smile. After all, she did care for her family, and didn’t want her to be treated like some kind of toy.

Face her demons, "and your demons look like mr. Turner?" She sought out a confirmation. She knew a little about the scandal that had happened with Oliver, Florence and River - just enough, because River rarely shut up and to be fair the energies in the room whenever Dion and River were in the room together could be toxic and far more alluring than any siren song. "You guys first signed it now? or is it from another suiter?" Kailani tilted her head a little bit to the side, who knew if her sister had remarried or something else after running away from Oliver, as he had put it. It was odd. Kailani had never really liked the idea of putting a piece of paper on being with someone, love didn't need to be sealed like a contract, it was felt in the heart. Yet she understood in the past why some did it, to make alliances and stuff like that, but that wasn't for love now was it? It was one of the reasons she had never settled like that, nor had any children. If she was going to have a child with someone she wanted to know the person would stay.

Kailani pressed her brows together when Florence asked if they were treating her alright, "I'm here because I want to be here," she reminded Florence, even if it hadn't been so in the beginning it was by now. She didn't mind hanging around Orion he was a good friend, she could tolerate River, and she liked Lucille. Then there was her feelings for Bast, which was the biggest part of her not just saying 'screw you River', and walk out the door whenever he threw a tantrum. "They are treating me alright," she then replied actually answering her question. "What are you doing to do when River comes back?" She asked curiously. Kailani had seen people come and go with threats for many years, and nothing seemed to actually shake River up - he simply never cared. "It's been what 268 years or so? You know holding grudges provokes wrinkles right?" Not because the boys play night had been right, but circling in the past like this - couldn't be good for anyone.

Florence squinted her eyes a little as Kailani wondered if her demons looked like mr. Turner. “One of them does look like him,” she said and straightened herself a little up. Now, Florence had not been speaking about what had happened with the two boys. Some of the family might have known that she had carried a child, but they just believed that it was a ‘goodbye present from Oliver’. They knew nothing. “First signed it now,” she exhaled and looked at her drink, licking her lips. It was good to have that chapter ended. She was certain that Oliver had forgotten everything about it because he had looked very confused. “I’ll do my best to keep suitors away,” she mumbled, still not really feeling for anything romantic with anyone. That night had taken away her wish for love and family. She just wanted to be.

Florence knitted her brows together as it almost seemed like Kailani corrected her, by telling her that she wanted to be there. It wasn’t really like Florence had said her sister didn’t want to be there, was it? She was just worried that it wasn’t as fantastic as it looked like. The knitted brows disappeared when she said she was alright, and she gave her sister a simple nod. “Good,” she said softly. Her lips folded as Kailani wondered what she was going to do when River came back. She didn’t know anymore. Her sister had thrown her off her horse. “I don’t know,” she replied honestly. The conversation she had wanted to have with River was one she had practiced sometimes, but she never really figured out if it was a good conversation or not. She took a sip of her wine again and looked up at her sister. “Stop that,” she said, knitting her brows a little together. She didn't care about wrinkles. “I have every right to hold my grudges,” she said and nodded a little. “I’ll just, talk to him, and she what happens,” she said, mostly trying to decide the action for herself.

Now, the sisters had been close back in the way, it was many years ago - not that she had anything against her older sister, but people changed as time did, and she hadn't seen her sister since that night. One thing Kailani did know was more about River than Florence, because she had worked with him, lived side by side with him for a thousand years. "I know, I'm just saying, you could be doing something way more useful with your life than picking in old wounds that will get you nowhere," she pointed out taking her own glass up and took a sip. Kailani could hold a grudge herself, but not one that lasted over two hundred years. "You know what he will do? Perhaps not even remember you, raise a brow and ask you to leave," it was the hard served truth. "Trust me on that one sestra," she clicked her tongue a little bit before downing her glass. "Or of course you are free to do as you please -" Kailani sighed a little bit tilting her head to the side. Well, Kailani was just saying this in the best favor for Florence, there was really no need to poke the bear, or what people said now was there? The last person who had annoyed River here months ago had been attacked.

Florence looked away from her sister as she said she had more useful things to do. Well. She might agree. But at the same time, she just wanted to confront them and leave them be right after. She shrugged a little and took a sip of her drink. Her ears listened to her speaking about what River would do. She blinked a little, thinking about it. Maybe her sister was right about how River wouldn’t be facing anything, simply ignore and send away. She looked directly towards her sister and took a sip of her drink while looking at her sister. “You might be right,” Florence seemed to be accepting what was being told. Maybe, maybe she should just keep it down a little? She took a sip of the drink “How much alcohol do you even put in these?” she spoke feeling that it wasn’t properly balanced. But who knew, she wasn’t an expert in cocktails.

Kailani chuckled a little when asked how much alcohol she put in the drinks. "The right amount, don't tell me you can't taste a well mixed cocktail when you get one," no, Kailani would never doubt her own skill, not even for her older sister. Besides, she never heard any complains from other costumers - which meant she cared very little for her perhaps picky older sister or her lack of good taste if that was the issue. "Kai love you didn't tell me we had such delicate visitors," Timothy looked towards the other siren speaking to Kailani, who rolled her eyes a bit as he stood next to Florence. "I Don't you have had the pleasure, Florence, this is Timothy," she presented them nothing less, it was that or Tim would do so himself, and he did like the flattery of having his name presented. So, he gave Florence a big teethy smile, then looking at Kai again. "Can I get a whisky on the rocks? - Please," Kailani then nodded before fetching him a drink. Timothy kept his eyes on Florence however, "what brings you here?"

Florence pulled a little smile as Kailani defended her drink. Florence eyes found her sisters, “I think it’s very well mixed,” she complimented her, feeding her ego a little. Maybe Florence wasn’t as used to drink alcohol anymore that she simply caught onto the taste of alcohol easier. Who knew?
Someone chose to budge into the conversation, and Florence immediately looked towards the demon. She noticed the attractive aura, but there was certainly something she didn’t like about this one. She immediately started to hope that he would get out of her way, thereby not letting her eyes rest on the demon for long. Him leaving the room would be the best. She noticed how Kailani rolled her eyes. Alright, this was almost a normal procedure. She looked to the demon as Kailani presented him, Timothy. The demon then proceeded to ask for a drink, which resulted her sister to get back to work. Left with the demon. Florence closed her eyes for a little moment before she turned to reply on the demon’s question. “I was looking for the owner, but my plans changed when Kailani found me,” she said looking at him, giving him her best fake smile before she pulled her eyes away from him.

Timothy nodded a little. "The owner yes, the owner," he pointed a little bit towards the siren. "Would say Kai is way better company as well, which reminds me - when would you convince Delp to come and visit us?" He leaned over the counter a little bit with his elbow looking towards Kailani who returned and gave him his drink. "I thought you got enough after last time?" Kailani then asked with a small head tilt. "Oh god no, Delp can throw a piano at any time she wants," he waved his hand a little as it being no big deal. Giving Florence a little wink before looking shortly at Kailani again, but only shortly.

Florence raised a brow when the demon admitted that he believed Kailani was better company. That was exactly why she was here. River was such a bad company, and she wanted to make sure he thought a little more about others than just himself. Her eyes widened a little as he mentioned their sister. Delphine clearly still hung around. Oh, it made her grind her teeth. She blinked a little as he mentioned throwing a piano, how stupid had this guy been? She noticed the little wink, which made Florence roll her eyes before she turned her attention towards her sister. “Is she working here too?” she wondered with a lifted eyebrow, hoping that Delphine knew better than to work here… Not that Delphine couldn’t work here, but it suited Kailani better in Florence’s eyes. Florence herself, well, she wouldn’t be here either. She believed she had… Better things to offer.

Kailani raised her brow a little bit, feeling the judgment even though it wasn't spoken directly. "No, she doesn't - to be frank we opened here back in September, so" Kailani replied and clicked her tongue a little bit. "But even if she was who would you be to judge? For the great ocean, you still think you are so much better than the rest of us?" Kailani asked a but blunt. Timothy made a small grimace and chuckled a little of the drama that started to flicker in the air. Kailani however didn't really appreciate her older sister actually. "Besides, last I saw you was what 1763? Before you swam off like a Ocean Sunfish, instead of taking some responsability for your actions," Kailani asked keeping her voice rather calm, but her raised brow was sign enough that Florence had stepped on her toes and that she should trade carefully. "Well, would you look at that," Timothy commented as he took another sip of his drink with a cheekier grin playing on his lip, always finding it amusing and rather intoxicating when he could see Kailani get pissed off - and if he wasn't on the receiving end, even better. "Oh piss off Timothy," Kailani rolled her eyes.

Florence raised her brows lightly as she mentioned that Delphine didn’t work there. It almost made her a little happy, but on the other hand the casino had only just opened in September, as Kailani explained.  The eyes narrowed as Kailani asked who she was to judge. Kailani knew very well why she was to judge, and it started to flicker some anger within her. Anger that might be more meant for who she was actually here for. “I don’t think I’m better than you,” she almost hissed, but only tried to be direct.
Both of Florence brows raised to the roof of her forehead as her sister mentioned how Florence swam off. “Shut your grouper mouth!” she hissed and placed her hand hard on the bartop. The irritating demon that kept them company seemed to find it amusing. “Piss off,” she hissed almost synched with her sister, though Florence spoke quicker. She corrected her gaze back to Florence, “You know nothing about what happened back then” she almost whispered. She took a greater mouthful of her drink. “Maybe you should be more worried about how I fled than blaming me,” spoke more gently, but also insistingly. “I'm sorry I stayed away, I should have visited you and Delphine. I'm really not here to argue,” her voice became softer and softer. She knew that she should have spoke more often to her two landdweller siblings, but when they spent time with River, she had just been too afraid. Afraid that former events would repeat themselves.

The way her sister hissed and placed her hands hard against the bar-counter made Kailani raise her brows unimpressed. Timothy however did not move at all or it wasn't because of the sirens that he did move away. "You assume that if you had been around that things would have been different, well here is some words you can take with you then," Kailani clicked her tongue a little bit and took a sharper breath in. "If we wanted to speak to you or have more to do with our family. We would reach out, we chose not to," she pointed out with a rather calm voice mixing the next drink for herself and poured it in a glass, "so take the hint, and get the hell out of my bar," Kailani moved her eyes back up and looked directly into Florence's eyes. "Everything okay here?" Orion asked showing up near the bar as well looking at the two sisters. "Everything is fine, she was just leaving."

“No, Kai- You’re not listening to me,” she interrupted. Florence didn’t think she was her sibling’s savior. No, she just wished she had kept in touch – to keep in touch, not to pull them away from the casino or their ‘friends’. But Kailani continued and explained that they didn’t want anything to do with their family. It made her shut her mouth. Kailani told Florence that she should get the hell out of the bar, and Florence pushed herself a little away from the bar. She heard a voice further away asking if everything was okay. She didn’t take her eyes of Kailani as she spoke to the other person. “Why?” she almost whispered, “Why do you not want to have anything to do with our family?” she wondered and got closer to the bar again. Florence knew she should just leave, but it nagged her, being such a family person as she was.

"And I don't want to listen to you, so why should I?" She replied back. Watching Florence step a little away but only to take a step closer again, rolling her eyes a little bit. She could just have Orion show her out, she was even sure Bast or Lucille wouldn't mind giving Florence a helping hand out. "Maybe you should ask yourself that and not me, after all I've sacrificed for our family - I could seriously strangle you right now," Kailani took a sharper breath in and mumbled the last part more or less. Orion kept his eyes on Kailani, since she had said just a moment ago that things were fine. Well but last time Kailani had said that she had been ending up talking to a demon none of the people liked here liked having wanted to speak to her. "Just get out," she calmly spoke yet her eyes could have killed giving the chance, and right now Florence should just be happy she hadn't gotten the powers Delphine had. "You heard her," Orion then said and reached out to place a hand on Florence arm to gesture her to make the right choice and leave without making a scene.

The words that left Kailani was clearly heard by Florence, and it didn’t lessen the questions she had. She was about to reply her little sister when she told her to get out. “Oh, come on,” she said, already tired of the whole conversation, because none of them got anywhere.
As soon as someone reached out for Florence arm she moved away, clearly looking like someone who was not expecting to be walked out by anyone. “Get your hands off me,” she hissed. She recognized something about this man, and it didn't take long before she knew why. “Tell your dad he’s a prick,” she continued before she walked away, steering clear of both her sister’s and River’s son’s hands. For a woman like her, she had learned her lesson about men, and she certainly didn’t trust a man in the Jones or Addams family.
